Re: Personal care assistant?

CNA/PCA - you'll be changing adult diapers and lifting obese people, A LOT. There is no way up without additional education. Kitchen job is easier. You can become a kitchen supervisor, which is more money + easier.

Re: Spraying ectasy and LSD in war zones

Hm... not sure about the war zones, but observing the renewed interest throughout the society in LSD, psilocybin, and other psychedelics. There is a new, very interesting book on the subject by Michael Pollan (of "eat real food" fame). It's called How to Change Your Mind. Just finished it and would ...

Re: What Do You Eat for Weight Loss?

@horsewoman: Yes, the simple answer is "Yes". But how do you do that? The link that I've mentioned provides excellent practical guidelines on the topic of " HOW to eat less", which includes many rules of thumb to make it easy. He says, for example, that it is impossible to overeat boiled potatoes, b...

Re: What Do You Eat for Weight Loss?

Looks like the majority on this forum is trending toward keto and low carbs. Hm... Up until very recently, it hasn't been my problem. At 5'3" I've lived my life with the needle glued to 115 lbs on a scale. Not anymore... It's 122.8 as of this morning. I've been kind of paying attention to it as of l...

Re: Suomalaisen Päiväkirja

Thank you very much for sharing - very enlightening. I can relate to many aspects of your journey - not ready to summarize it in my own journal entry. Have you read Passionate Marriage? The name does not do justice to this great book. This is NOT a book about relationships. It is about your OWN jour...

Re: Tulsi 2020: Anti-war Democrat says she’s running for US president

My first vivid political memory was my dad making me sit in front of the TV to watch Nixon resign. There's a strong civil libertarian streak in me. Thank you for sharing your first political memory. I would like to share mine. I am in kindergarten. It's April 22 - Lenin's birthday. Our teacher read...

I've been suprsised by how moved I was by the burning of Notre-Dame. I'm in a bad mood.
The feeling of sad symbolism of this event is hard to shake off. Here is a good article that addresses this issue:
