Re: Philippines or Thailand or S. U.S. border

1. Skip driving at all cost. Bus, train, Uber, Grab, walk. If one must have transportation, arrange with hotel always. Never thought of that, hotel to arrange, good tip. @Chenda, Are you still looking for a wife ? - would say I'm more open to it, it's all about being a good fit. I don't bounce arou...

Re: Philippines or Thailand or S. U.S. border

Been away from this site; almost since it was posted. Much thanks for all the comments, had a chance to read all, & some great advice! I decided to do a cruise rather than go abroad, and a trip to Montana. Oddly my favorite part was talking with the Asian workers on the boat, & a few of the ...

Re: Philippines or Thailand or S. U.S. border

"Culture Shock!" huh, that sounds interesting. I've seen some youtube where people go into the details on culture differences. The Filipina Pea for example, she goes into details on about every topic, and she is very good. I really don't expect it to be too big a deal for me however, hard ...

Philippines or Thailand or S. U.S. border

I'm actively looking to travel to the Philippines for an extended stay (Jan-Mar 2023), with an interest to permanently live abroad. It feels a bit daunting doing this as a single guy who's done little to no travel in that part of the world. So I'm wondering if anyone has any pointers for doing somet...

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

So IBD has changed it's stance to "confirmed uptrend" today, but they really will be looking for a follow through day(s) next week for confirmation. This is a trend developed by William J. O'Neil. And there are other indicators the market could be stabling, such as the count of new highs i...

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

Moving to all cash earlier this year has been such a relief! I get the buy-hold mentality and even used to believe it, but having drudged though bear markets in the past, I knew the strategy was never meant for someone with my temperament. It's likely others will feel the same way: If you're interes...

each of those currencies would still be far less volatile than Bitcoin, because they’re backed by governments that actually know what the hell they’re doing.
Not that I'm taking sides, but - governments know what they’re doing? :?

cryptocurrency

Anyone regularly follow cryptocurrency and have an idea on where it's headed. Bitcoin down over 10K this week, it sort looks like mass liquidation at this point. Where it settles will be interesting to see. Any thoughts? Stage Analysis posted below today: "Some crypto breadth stats 81 of the 14...

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

What is your prediction for the SP500 low between now and the end of the year? No idea Sky, but would probably say a lot depends on inflation and interest rates. In the Short term rates might come down and then we could rally this year, but long term I think excess national debt is the same thing a...

Re: Hussman shows a risk of 50-66% [US stock]market losses

Has anyone figured out how to profit from the coming crash? I posted an article not so long ago (Avoiding a Bear market); the video/lecture is long but VERY good! The post did not get much love; sorta wonder if anyone even watched the long video... none of the comments in the post are relevant to t...

Re: How Much Cash?

One place to put money assuming you still have a home mortgage is to make prepayments to your home loan. For example you can be paid a year or even two years in advance on mortgage payments. It's better than cash in that you're saving some in smaller interest payments on your loan. I'd recommend the...

5 and 10 years from now - 2027, 2032

Where do you see the economy, and state of affairs in 5 years, and then 10 years from now? Do you think there is anything special that you can do to prepare for the coming changes?

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

By the way, I'm not advising anyone to invest this way!!! But if you're interested in avoiding downward trends (bear markets), then the material in this post might be worth looking into. Everyone really should do their own research, failing to do that is asking for trouble. Below recording added tod...

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

Sounds good, I've not seen anything questionable with Mark M. yet, but I'm new to watching his advice. From reading one of his books, it was obvious he's meticulous in his approach to quality and detail, and he's made a lot of money investing. Not impressed with Cathy Wood, never have been. If you'r...

I have already developed my own trading systems and am beyond the need to research how others develop theirs.
That's important to know. What part makes you angry in my reply, was it asking if you watched the video?

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

You're never going to time the top perfectly, so you have to pick between two options: be too early or be too late. With charts you can go back in time to any previous bear market and review the metrics you use to see how they faired. Dr. Wish uses several tools to gauge momentum, but one of his ma...

Re: Bicycle trip in the canadian prairies summer 2022

Curious about how you do this; is it biking along the Hwy? And if so, is it true you need to watch for flying rocks that get kicked up from cars and trucks? Biking sounds kinda fun if it would be on trails instead of the Hwy. Or hiking, canoe or even a cross country train ride might be a good way to...

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

What if the bear market already happened in March 2020 My take on 2020 was fearmongering (rather than a real bear), and then prices shot straight back up to new all time highs. But I do get what you are saying, when does the bill come due? I see home prices as real inflation, even though it's not t...

Re: Avoiding a Bear market

Lots of bashing of this post, but I sort of get it if you're not digging into the details and doing your own research on the subject, which is my guess here. If your casually looking at this tread and replying without investing (several hours/days) time into the research it's going to be a waste of ...
