Re: Suomalaisen Päiväkirja

I think that's why the linguistic distinction is useful in therapeutic settings. "You have a good life" implies externalities and scaling. "You have value" means that Suo can still feel good about himself while his wife berates him for watching John Oliver.

but this life that YOU created is pretty damn good." That's interesting in light of what my therapist would say. He would definitely agree with the idea of agency - that you have the ability to both create and change. I'm not sure about the second part where the therapist qualifies your life as "Pr...

I recall being a teenager and watching the Talking Heads video "Once In A Lifetime" and having a vague notion about what David Byrne was singing about. Thanks to Suo, I now possess a very deep understanding.

Re: Narrative

He wasn't a "pounce on you in the alley" rapist, he was a "groom you to be compliant" rapist. I can see this becoming the go-to metaphor to describe the difference between a person getting to ERE quickly through high income as opposed to someone who methodically changes lifestyle over a longer peri...

Re: 7Wannabe5-Take 4

I think it best the world be spared from two more middle aged, hyper sexual types throwing more cringe down the literary black hole of an already overly saturated genre. Not to mention, I see the audience for a hybrid spin involving such arcane and disparate themes as permaculture and skull fucking ...

I read the first paragraph a few times and decided its better to forego comprehension and potential stroke event as opposed to potential comprehension but one side of body rendered unusable in the process. I'm just hoping its you wearing the tight black turtle neck. Otherwise, I just pleasured mysel...

Re: Creative Writing, deliberate practice, and politely asking for feedback

2. Read. A lot. I was in a group with a lot of mystery/crime writers. My basic question (in my head) is "Are you Sherlock Holmes wannabe motherfuckers reading? Because it's obvious that what you are writing is not even close to being published." So not only read, but read the best, and if you are n...

He wrote some pretty horrible Game of Thrones kind of stuff Writer's Group Rule #987568: If you walk into a writer's group, and you spot a pony-tailed middle-aged man, wearing a unicorn shirt that was half-purchased with the entire haul of royalties from his self-published series "Lost Kingdom Of T...

Re: Creative Writing, deliberate practice, and politely asking for feedback

I was in a writing group. It was led by a woman with a stutter. Stutterers shouldn't really be leading anything unless everyone else present is a stutterer, which makes me wonder do stutterers drive other stutterers crazy? "Waawawawawawelcooooommmmme tototototo tahahahaahe wahwahahwritererers gahgah...

Re: TheTrucker's journal. Goal is to retire by age 28.

The one thing I can't get used to that still drives me crazy are the appointment times. My sleep schedule is nonexistent. I'll get up at 4am to drive one day, then two days later I'm up all night driving till the sun rises, then I'll switch back over to getting up in the morning later that same wee...

Re: How Will My Fascination with ERE Affect My Marriage?

August 2018 MARRIAGE Not easy. We've always gone though periods of extreme alienation, leading parallel lives. We slip there because of this disagreement or that, and then it's weeks or months. Cold. Ice cold. I am always the one who has to make the peace. DH is not a peacemaker. He is not a maker ...

At least I'm sober and at very low hiv risk.
Speaking from experience, one should never remain silent when their baseline quality of life indicators surpass those of a black eyed crack whore carrying her FMP's through an empty lot at sun-up.

Keep coming back.

Avocations and lovers come and go, children grow, and hair grows gray (if it were not colored yellow on monthly basis), but here I still remain. I didn't know whether I should sing that like its a line from a Fleetwood Mac song or declare it like Martin Luther speaking in front of a church tribunal...

1) I had a blow. out. fight. with DW in the middle of August. It was actually pretty hurtful and I don't want to get into it, I respect your decision. There should be boundaries. But as a dedicated member of your readership, I find this to be highly disappointing. I view this thread in a similar ma...

I guess at this point, I would rather read the blogs of dedicated ERE practitioners than a book which provides the basis ...

We now have a history of tracking net worth for 21 months on Mint Money. It has increased $150K over that time, from 350K to approx. 513K. Debt, although historically low, has not materially changed. Staring at the numbers is beneficial as I see the swings, specifically the negatives that one necess...
