Re: Work environments in software development
So what experience do you all have working in different work environments in software? Which was your favorite and why? My favorite work env is working for myself, on my own projects. Then I can choose the language, framework, operating system, working hours all by myself. I went back to work for o...

Re: The triangle P/E, P/B and ROE
@jacob That makes sense. When there are buybacks, the P/E and ROE stay the same, while P/B increases. So there should be an adjustment for that. And opposite when new shares are issued.
But given equal number of shares, will there then be a triangle as I described, or are there other caveats?

The triangle P/E, P/B and ROE
Wondering about the ralationship between: - Price to Earnings (P/E) - Price to Book value (P/B) - Return on Equity (ROE). Equity (Shareholder’s Equity) is synonymous with Book value. Given a certain P/E, won’t a better P/B mean a worse ROE? If company A has a P/E of 10, and a P/B of 2, the ROE is 20...

Re: The FI business
@shaz True! That's probably even easier, as long as you find a solution for electronic payment connected to the rental object - may require coding if there is no solution for this already? When starting out, you could do some more manual checks, then automate it. @jacob Then if FIs get together, we ...

Chat, plus video calls once per week, maybe? Then those who want to work closer together, can schedule additional calls. But let's discuss this in chat or call when we start out.

Re: The FI business
@rube could be possible to automate this, with boxes where people can pay, pick their tool, and put it back when it's used. Then you could avoid much of the day-to-day work?

The FI business
I will here outline a vision for how it's possible for us who are RE/FI to build businesses that are completely different from the regular business with 9 to 5, commute, micro-managing bosses, outside investors that need capital returned and all that shit. As FI we don't need any of that, but can go...

Re: Solopreneur MMG
Hi again - Would love to get this group started! Please post if you are interested in joining :) I have been in a regular job lately (even though I'm FI), but that's not for me: Seems like every workplace wants to squeeze as much juice as possible out of their lemons. So I will start a FI-business, ...

Re: Fun & Cheap sports
Yeah! I tried it, and kinda liked it. Should take it easy at the beginning, though: My training buddy got slightly injured: we did the forest-version of parkour, and those rocks are hard as a d***. So take it easy!

Re: Perform well in jobs after 3 months training
Hahaha. Yeah, probably, but I'm pretty sure you may find some 18 year olds who have acquired these skills. Better if they work in another no-education-required role first, like sales or customer support. Then the emotional mature ones can move on to project management.

Re: Perform well in jobs after 3 months training
Yeah, but these are just general skills that an 18 year old might have, as well? What skills do a PM have that an intelligent 18 year old couldn't have?

Re: Perform well in jobs after 3 months training
That is, they could be performed by 13 year olds if it came to that. Like for example "Project Manager": - "Hey, how are you doing on the report spreadsheet? The customer needs it tomorrow!" - "Oh, you don't have the license to IntelliJ, I will fix it." - "I will ...

Perform well in jobs after 3 months training
Some jobs are done people with really little training in the specific field, like for example - CEO: They often have a lot of experience in another field, but have little or no education in management. - Project or Product manager. Programmers often step into that after getting tired of coding or de...

Re: Solopreneur MMG
Yeah, same here. I would rather take the 150 euros, that those dinners cost, as cash, but I guess the employer did it more for "Team Building" and that kinda stuff. They wanted people to eat a nice dinner and drink a lot of alcohol to get a corporate team spirit, I guess.

@mountainFrugal Now I understand! You got these expensive hotel stays and meals - that's amazing! I once had a job where we went to really expensive restaurants.. It costed my employer more or less the same as I spent on dinner rest of the month, at home.

That's great!! I didn't understand all of your accounting, though. The airfaire, hotel and meals are expenses? Considered a vendor? I get kinda confused, but hey, I live in a country where taxes are filed in 15 minutes

Re: Solopreneur MMG
I'm so sorry too, didn't see your post before now. I'm still at $0, @mountainFrugal LOL. Because of that I went back to a regular job (I don't need to money, but I needed to provide value for someone), but it's pretty good. Before I retire again I want to at least have some customers, or at very lea...

Re: For coders, are these 100% online, accredited programs any good?
A CS-degree is not waste of time (well, too some degree it is), but a huge waste of money (if you live in a non social democratic country). You won't get anything there that you can't get for free or cheap online. If you want to learn front-end, I recommend checking out Scrimba . They have video tut...
