Re: Low Income, Early 20s, Anti-Wage-Slave Living: Walwen's Journal
My grandfather did, actually, give his blessing, and said it was my decision to leave. My friend called me and told me "He's wrong. It's actually MY decision if you are in a position to leave your family to live on my land. And you are NOT. You need to stay home and take care of your grandfath...

In my experience, among millenials and younger, neurodivergence is not stigmatized or pathologized and peo...

I've been knocking arbout on the forum but it's a long time since I've done an actual update so here goes a short one: - Now completed an almost full year at this job. "Appraisals" coming up next week. Expect to receive a modest $100/mo raise as per the payscale of my company. - On the who...

Intentionally sat on the floor today for 20 minutes. Trying a new rule... I can only watch YouTube if I'm sitting on the floor! (YT is the "social" app eating the most of my "discretionary" screentime. Suggested addition: you must get up and sit down without using your hands My ...

the idea of intentionally introducing large amounts of friction into my life systems feels interesting to me... I'm not sure why, maybe because it's unintuitive and the opposite of the way I would default to thinking about lifestyle design? Obligatory mention for non-furniture living, floor sitting...

obligatory mention of extended water fasting -- you might or might not be into it due to the effects on muscle mass, but it's a thing and it's a thing that works.

Yep as per Jung we're meant to converge to the middle of all the E/I T/J etc divides as a result of personal development. He sees personal development as developing our weaker side. At least in its original concenption, the types were a prescription for personal growth

Thank you for explaining about zazen. About subpersonalities, it's not just Plotkin and Jung; there's many therapy branches that would ask, "if your adhd was a person, who would they be? what would they look like? how old? appearance? gender?" This one guy in a demonstration therapy sessio...

Sometimes it's nice to just relax into the mediocrity of going along with someone else's plan/vision for a bit, but nobody really acknowledges this. I think in order to really embrace freedom more people need to realize and explicitly grapple with the hard things about freedom. What does relaxing i...

Forums suffer from selection bias. It's the loners for whom the distance of a written medium provides comfort, and those who want to prey on them.* I suspect many of the abovementioned artists, dirtbags, and so forth just begin living and naturally form ties with similar-minded others in the process...
