Re: A family father's path through life

I have also finished reading Hiromi Shinya's "The rejuvenation enzyme": a book I bought some time ago at the airport.. Unfortunately I don't know enough to validate or reject many of it's contents, so I'll just quote the "Seven Golden Keys for Good Health" in the end of the book: 1. GOOD DIET You sh...

Re: A family father's path through life

I thought I should update.. Last objectives were: - Continue developing a "slow start up routine" - no routine yet - Exercice: count days with at least 3 times a day one minute of push-ups (or equivalent) and other sports little progress - 10 minutes before heading home to reflect on work at the end...

Re: A family father's path through life

It's been long since the last time I wrote here. Together between work and sleep deprivation I haven't had the time nor the will to work on my objectives.. I don't have yet. so today I won't update anything. I just wanted to write about the last book before I forget: after reading Jason's comments a...

Re: How Will My Fascination with ERE Affect My Marriage?

Rather than forcing your DH to play with you on the low end of the curve you might try meeting him in the middle and looking for that good-deal inflection point as a team. Maybe homemade cheese isn't his thing, but finding his favorite inexpensive Gruyere would be considered a fun challenge for an ...

Re: A family father's path through life

Just finished the book, and I must admit it IS a preaching book  Anyway, it holds some interesting thoughts: - Enter your day slowly: sit quietly and relaxed, stretch, have a quiet talk to yourself, listen and then lay down your concerns and visualize yourself walking through a perfect day. An...

Re: journal of wood

A few months ago I made a list of desired qualities/traits and she hits 17 out of 19 or something like that. No matter what moment in my life I had made a list like that, 10 years later it would have probed not only wrong, but absolutely missing direction.. (Maybe looking back in your life t...

Re: A family father's path through life

@GDP, @SWB, Thanks!! Right now I am in hyper-space: life doesn't have hours enough to let me do a tenth of what I'd like.. I heard "Rich dad poor dad" and had a few interesting ideas... but writing them is one of the things I didn't have time to do.. It's ok, I'll re-listen to it in the...

Re: SWB's path to financial independence

Glad it helped! ;) My problem is that I think the local market is overpriced and will likely correct (go down in value) in the next 5 years. If the market correction is due to BIG change in demand / offer (expected large decrease of population or huge increase in offer due to construction boom) it w...

We had the baby and everything went SO well  I'm now in the sleep deprivation phase... I'll skip week objectives review for obvious reasons :) These weeks I listened to "4 hour work week" . Re: SWB's path to financial independence

You are dealing here with two different decisions: a) rent vs buy Here you can see the amortization table . With your data it means on average (for the first 5 years) $ 220 every month to principal and $ 518 for the bank. So your calculation should look like: 5 x 12 x (1750 - (1026 - 220 + 1800/12))...

Re: SWB's path to financial independence

Excuse me SWB, but there's something I don't understand: Renting is 1.750 x 12 = 21.000 $ per year Buying is 185.000 $ (=8.8 years' rent???) I understand the renting potential of the 185k house won't be 1.750 $/m, is it? Besides, following your numbers, which part of the 1.026 $ per month will be pr...

Re: A family father's path through life

I've run for the first time a forecast of our SWR. They are just rough numbers, so no great conclussions may be derived yet, but still the first numbers arised a few facts to think upon: As I could easily suppose, chances are that I won't be able to retire early.... Having (soon) four kids, m...
