Re: Josué's Journal

Thank you @Seppia ! 1) your point about USA, what do you mean by the most expensive area? I'm confused, I don't understand if you are referring to the value of the index/ETF. My choice for USA and Europe is because I think both economies will grow in the medium-long term. Do you not think this will ...

Re: European version of S&P500

Hola! I buy the iShares Core EURO STOXX 50 UCITS ETF (Acc) (CSX5) which tracks the Euro Stoxx 50 index. I thought about buying a Stoxx 600 ETF from iShares but, for that index, they seemed to only have an ETF that distributes dividends instead of accumulating. As for your comment on the graphs, I ca...

Re: Josué's Journal

BTW, my current plan for stock-ETF allocation is:
  • 45% iShares Core EURO STOXX 50 UCITS ETF (Acc)
  • 40% iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF (Acc)
  • 15% iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets IMI UCITS ETF

Re: Josué's Journal

Thanks! What's your opinion about justETF.com ? What do you mean by 'German-listed ETFs'? You mean traded in the German markets? I am not paying much attention to where the ETFs that I plan to buy are traded (mainly Netherlands and Germany, I don't live in any of those countries though). An importan...

Re: Josué's Journal

I see, did you use ETFs for the Big/Medium/Small cap allocation? If so, which ones did you buy for each capitalization?

Thanks for the Morningstar tip!

Re: Josué's Journal

For the sake of simplicity, I wasn't thinking about adding small cap ETFs to the mix... Don't large indices, like SP500 and Stoxx600, already include some small cap?

Re: Josué's Journal

Current status: 21.620€ in 4%/y savings account 1.000€ in new broker account ready to be invested = 9.05% of goal + 1.500€ in joint account with GF. During the past few weeks I've been quite anxious about starting to invest in stocks. I think that 1) it's time I learned how to do it (starting from ...

Re: Josué's Journal

I'm still learning how to invest, I don't have a clear plan yet so I'm not saying I want that, I am only inclined towards it. The reason is that I could get the money without selling the underlying assets, i.e. it would be like a salary. I think this makes running out of money in the long term less ...

Nope, not Italian, ma vivo in Italia da un po' :) Do you live in the North, Center, South?

I see, I didn't know about those taxes, indeed 12.5% used to be very good.

Re: ERE country : Portugal

Maybe because 4% WR is seen as too high. I'm in Italy, which shares many of the pluses of Portugal (cheap, good weather and food, plenty to see and do by staying local...), and with our taxation, crazy bureaucracy and generally higher potential for instability I feel like we need more than 4% Even ...

Re: Gilberto de Piento's Journal

First, congrats on the progress! I'd love to be in your place ;) Second, a newbie question. Doesn't your net worth vary with the stock market fluctuations? I.e., even though today you're worth 220k, it's not unlikely that next month you'll be worth less, right? I ask because your graph only has like...

Re: ERE country : Portugal

Have I read that you need 500k€ to retire in Portugal? I think you can do with much much less. I actually think the "7k/year" would be fairly easy in Portugal. Personally, my portfolio goal for retiring in Portugal is 10k€/year on a 4% withdrawal rate (WR), i.e. a 250k portfolio. It's a goal that I ...

Hi,

If I may ask, why did you sell so soon after Brexit? Shouldn't you have held on to those bargains for the long-term?

401k question from a non-American

I've read in several places that it is a good idea, retirement-wise, to put as much money as possible into one's 401k. One of the (very good) reasons is that apparently some employers match one's contribution. It sounds fantastic indeed but there's always one thing that I haven't been able to unders...

Re: What Do You Eat for Weight Loss?

To me low carb worked (Atkins I guess). But I read that it depends on the person... In any case I did lose about 5kg (71kg to 66kg) in 5 weeks and I still haven't gained weight since 3 months ago (at least the clothes still fit the same). The good thing is that now I know how to lose weight and when...
