This graph shows our income and expenses over the last couple of years. Because the actual numbers fluctuate so much I decided to do it on a last twelve months basis. The savings ...

Lately I have been thinking about what I would actually like to do after FI. I think I will only be sure once I am really FI but it's also fun and motivating to imagine life after FI now. I suspect my FI dream will change after I have kids ...

Re: Hello from a reborn Dane :-D

My experience is that it takes a little getting used to. My husband first thought that I was just very unhappy with my job. He couldn't imagine why I would pursue FI unless I really disliked my job. But he accepted it. Then he started seeing the benefits of being independent of a job as it gives ...

Welcome! I'm a fellow Dane living in Copenhagen as well. I'm impressed with your high savings rate! Is your girlfriend also aiming for FI?

================= OUR SAVINGS RATE ===============

As I wrote in the last post our savings rate is 55%. That is mainly because we do not pay back our mortgage. If we did that and if we had a fixed interest rate (we have a variable rate that is adjusted every three years), our savings rate would be ...

Re: Fru Frihed's Journal (Mrs Freedom's Journal)

Hi FruFrihed.

If you manage your saving rate well, I am sure that you will reach FI. I guess you have already learned about some ERE skills and frugal choices here already?

Is living in Copenhagen ERE-friendly?

Hi MDFIRE2024,

Yes, we have learned to live more frugally the last couple of ...

Re: Fru Frihed's Journal (Mrs Freedom's Journal)

Hi knap82,

Good to hear that you can do the baby thing frugally. We have talked about travelling but then we would have to both be on leave at the same time which means our son would have to start in daycare earlier which we would like to avoid. Do you live in Copenhagen too?

Fru Frihed's Journal (Mrs Freedom's Journal)

Dear Early Retirement Extreme Forum,

I have been lurking around the forum the last half year and have found it very inspiring to read other people's private stories. Especially those that are similar to mine. So therefore I have decided to make my own journal. I hope it will be of value to some of ...

Hi and welcome :)

Great to have a fellow (female) Dane on board. Love to hear your thoughts on FI and whether you will strive to achieve this independently from your husband?

Re: Greetings from Copenhagen

Warm welcome from me!

Always great to meet another Dane here and even more a female one as we are (still) the minority. I am in the same lucky situation that I bought an apartment in Copenhagen a while ago and have made a lot of passive income just by not being able to find a suitable place to ...

Greetings from Copenhagen

I am a 26 year old dane who has read Mr Money Mustache and other early retirement blogs for the last year or so. After I graduated my husband (31 years old) and I have kept our expenses low and invested the surplus. We also bought an apartment in Copenhagen some years ago which has appreciated in ...
