Re: Finding One's Edge

A Redditor a few years ago turned a $100k investment to over $3m by just focusing on one stock - AMD. Studied everything about the business, its competitors, and its price movements. Bet big when it went under what they thought was the intrinsic value and even sold calls / purchased puts when the st...

My intuition was right…she started at 5. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bomsori_Kim Never seen Whiplash. Starting an instrument in older ages…learning a language in older ages. Yes, many things that likely would’ve been better off starting young. Expectations should be set accordingly for max skill...

My heart is saying learn the Cello. Brain is saying learn the Piano. Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto D Major Op.35 - Bomsori Kim https://youtu.be/Qf9FKZicwL4 I just admire the incredible skill I'm seeing. That violinist easily has over 10k hours...likely doing so since they were a kid. I've been down a ...

Re: Investments Trade Log

I'm just surprised that the market is acting surprised that the Fed is continuing to be hawkish... Hoping for a short-term relief rally at least but VTI will probably hit a new 52-week low first. I'm in the middle of picking up pennies with an oncoming steam roller. Increased odds I'm gonna end up t...

I discovered MMM first. Decided that was too slow. Found ERE.

#1 priority is the ability to sleep in everyday. That is what I am most looking forward to when I'm not longer a salaryman lol.

Haven’t calculated in a while but I’m still working and accumulating. I’m in a perpetual state of being around 5%.

Sold some $5.00 Puts on SOFI on margin about a month out (with the aim to close out at 50%). Collected a nice premium. I've not sold short puts for a long while but I feel like things are getting close to bottom for this stock. I watch this stock quite religiously so I believe I've a better feel on ...

Yes - but this also appears to circle back to a post much earlier in my journal from Jacob: https://forum.earlyretirementextreme.com/viewtopic.php?p=256707&hilit=economic+problem#p256707 And also reminds me of a quote from John Adams: I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty t...

I can't remember which journal I pulled this article from. I just set it on my browser and started reading today: https://simonsarris.substack.com/p/the-most-precious-resource-is-agency Finished but man this article really struck a chord with me. I was programming games on my childhood computer when...

To answer the question of what....it can never be specific but the general answer seems to lie on a large spectrum between "Live, Laugh, Love" and "Put a Dent in the Universe." Perhaps predetermined forces (upbringing, temperament, personality types, how one unconsciously deals w...

Part of me just thinks this is the natural cycle of things. Wage workers are in a unique position where they've the upper-hand against they employer...rising wages, low unemployment, remote work, etc., and overall increased negotiation position where the worker can now walk away from bad jobs. So qu...

I've them the Financial Economics book now. Reading when I find the time. Just a few pages here and there. Best advice I could possibly give for habits - Just commit to a little. Don't feel like working out? Just do a few pullups. Don't feel like writing? Just write a few sentences or an outline. Do...

Paw Paw Time Fun Fact why they're almost never found in stores - because the shelf life on these things is terrible. They taste great if you've never had one. Kind of a banana / mango mix. https://i.postimg.cc/bJRbbqKc/Pawpaws.png I have 10 or so seeds in a zip loc bag with potting soil and water (n...

@Seppia Not too concerned. I think they're trading at a fair value (at close to book value in line with other banks) and growing revenues, EBITDA, and continuing to grow membership in an inflationary / potentially recessionary environment and rising interest rates are a good sign of resilience. They...

September 1, 2022 Net-worth: $491k (Down $26k) All of my individual stock positions are out of range for me to do any covered calls due to low premiums and fear of melt-up rally knocking out my positions. Nothing much has changed lately for me. I'm still auto-saving towards index funds in my work TSP and using after-tax money to buy either BNDW or SOFI (if price is under $7.00). My cost-basis per share is down to $12.90...and I started my first purchases at $20 :?. Speaking of SOFI, SoftBank recently...

An article making the rounds on the forum lately is "A Dent in the Universe" by Venkatesh Rao (same individual that wrote the Gervais Principle). I'm thinking that the FatFIRE types are also doubling down on careerism / money accumulation as a way to deal with the following: But at higher ...

I've seen some online communities that mix fiction and meditative concepts. The end goal is to learn meditative visualization and lucid dreaming so well that you can experience the virtual worlds within your own mind. (See reality shifting and tulpamancy if you want to fall down a very weird rabbit...
