Re: Mental health consequences of ERE

My mental health has improved tremendously since I retired some 5 years ago. No more workplace stress and not having to spend most of my awake time and most of my creative energy on other people's projects. Such a relief to quit. Now I have all my time to my own disposal. This is bliss on a level I ...

Re: Becoming day shift guard in Scandinavia

Yes, you can rock up tomorrow and settle. However, to get on the social democratic wellfare band wagon, you need to either work, study or have enough funds to support yourself. After 6 weeks you will then have free medical services, after 12 months (of work) you are eligible for unemployment benefit...

Re: Lightfruit55's Journal

You are so right about pulling the trigger sooner than later. I did ERE about 5 years ago and have had so much quality in life since then that I often wonder why I did not quit way earlier. I had about 25x annual expences then and today I've got around 35x. The increase is due to stockmarket returns...

Re: Ultimate Stoic Frugality Challenge

UC or not, squatting while eliminating is generally very beneficial. A quick search on 'Squatty Potty' or 'squatting ibd' or similar will give lots of hits from scientific articles to testemonies. It makes a lot of sense (to me) and as there will be no negative side effects, why not give it a try.

If you pass through Copenhagen, Denmark, you are most welcome to pop by and say hi and/or crash for a night or three (basic style).

Re: Walking, standing, sitting, lying -- more natural approaches?

@Salathor, which surfaces were you walking on? Concrete, plaster, asphalt and the like hard surfaces are hard even on trained barefeet. Better to start out on lawns, sand, soil etc. I.e. surfaces that are not suited for strollers.

Re: Walking, standing, sitting, lying -- more natural approaches?

When you walk barefoot, how concerned are you about possibly stepping on...animal feces/road pollution/other nasties? Very little. I have discovered that when I walk barefoot, I am basically constantly aware of where I place my feet. Like having a wider field of vision that includes the ground in f...

Re: Walking, standing, sitting, lying -- more natural approaches?

Yes, I have experimented with all of it. It has been so worth while and I don't even think about it as experiments any longer. It has become my default way of moving. It only took a few (2 maybe) years of dedication to get there. Probably I had a better starting point than most so it might take a li...

Re: ERE in Austria (not Australia)

Frost85, I suggest you look more into the requirements for receiving Austrian unemployment benefits. If everbody could get 50% of past salary for an unlimited period of time, a huge amount of people would of course do so (parasites or not) and the tax burden for the working population would reach im...

Re: How many of you wear glasses or contacts?

I got glasses for nearsightedness while in high school, but dropped them again after a few years by doing eye, concentration and yoga exercises. Now more than 40 years later, I still don't own or need any glasses. So yes, it is absolutely possible and does not even take that much effort to keep your...

Hey freak,

No, you are not alone. Welcome to the club from a fellow Dane. Also fully on a plant based diet. However, I retired some years ago and find your prospect of intending to work for another 20 + years very long. Your kids will have left home by then.

Is there a principle (and advice) about annoying volunteers

What I am challenged by is the fact that in volunteer work (which I do quite a lot after retirement) there is the tendency that among the people who volunteer for say a committee there are often one or two super annoying people. Frequently they are so annoying that most other people (i.e. the good, ...

Of course you can cook white rice and beans in the same pot. Just pick some beans, like mung beans, with a short cooking time. If you add spices, you get the Indian dish kitchari, but you can also just add salt and a little oil for a simple version. https://realandvibrant.com/healing-ayurvedic-kitch...

Then, move to Thailand or somewhere else where you are percieved as exotic/high smv and you'll have lots of girls to date.
This is irrelevant advice as MI is looking for a woman with genes that will result in a tall child.
