Re: ffj's early retirement

The shop really looks nice, ffj , and your house is all framed.
Big milestone day.

Well worth the money paying someone else to do the house framing I'd say.
Especially these guys. Sounds like you made a good choice selecting them.

Unbelievable. I'm stunned at basically a week's worth of progress.
Your house is really taking shape.

Re: Phase III - Deja Vu All Over Again

Gosh Dave. What a mess with your Dad. I think you've thought through things pretty logically and see the probable outcomes of any action on your part. Which all still leaves you right where you are - upset and angry. On the other side, that's great that your stash is at a new peak. I'm still under w...

Re: ffj's early retirement

Wow - haven't checked in for a week or so - I can't believe all your progress. Your roof and soffits/gutters look very attractive. The design of them is very pleasing and the color is really nice too. Your house is going up! Things are really happening now. I've no doubt you'll keep an eye on the mo...

Re: ffj's early retirement

Yellowface!

Are you putting a cat door in that shop? Or is someone moving to the big house?

Re: ffj's early retirement

It really does seem so much larger with the roof on doesn't it? What a nice shop you will have.
I can't believe you set up another garden!
You are one busy guy that's for sure.

You really have a nice spot. The views are so nice.

Re: ffj's early retirement

It's a good day in Kentucky. An honest to goodness structure is going up on your property. The little trees are coming up. You've got a bald eagle flying over head and snakes on their way to the pond. The cats already love you - you can tell by looking at them. (you've named them haven't you? You ca...

Re: ffj's early retirement

You have a really nice piece of property. Lovely views.

Our town gives away daffodil bulbs every year so I plant them every year.
And in the spring I am always reminded of how glad I am that I did so.

Huge score on those windows. It helps balance things out when you can find a deal like that.
Love watching all this develop.

Re: ffj's early retirement

Your trellis is going to be lovely once your plants fill it in - but honestly, it's pretty nice just as it is. Nice job.

I've got to say though, those mushrooms creep me out.

Re: ffj's early retirement

Things really are moving along.

Look at that tree! Talk about a crown of thorns.

We have fought invasive bittersweet for 10 years now. It took us 3 years to completely rescue a 30 ft holly from it. Although I use the word "completely" as I knock on wood.

As someone who enjoys watching you build all the things you build, I cannot thank you enough for buying this property and taking us along for the ride.

The bridge is going to be a beauty.

Re: A Journey of Mindfulness--the Remaking of Life in Midstream.

Hoping this works out in a way that is easy for you to accept. It's tough when you've planned carefully and the rug is pulled out from under you. Not that this development derails you - you will have a stable retirement - but I understand how you feel about deserving what you were working so long to...

Re: A Journey of Mindfulness--the Remaking of Life in Midstream.

Mulling Over Life in Front of a Fire Last night I built a fire and spread a comforter on the carpet in front of the hearth and wrapped up in it while I split time between reading, dumbing out in front of Netflix, and eating. It was a very soothing experience—I've long believed I hold some ancient g...
