Re: Master's in Social Work?

Hello
I did about 4-5 years of IT support of a non-profit (99% county funded), and a couple different counties "health and human services department" (this is the best possible place for a Social worker to work) in a high COL county in California.

I cant stress the fact that 98% were women, 100 ...

Re: Government, mega corp, or small dirty business?

A class 6 truck costs $65,000 new with no tax, no registration, and no trailer.
The trailer I need to do this job costs 30k-40k.
Yes there are cheaper ways to do the same job like buying/renting a $1700 trash pump and some hoses, but it is highly illegal...

It is impossible to move 1500 gallons of ...

Re: Entrepreneurship

Im moving to the Seattle Area with my dad. The prices about 1 hour away from Seattle in every direction make a duplex or triplex about 300k-400k, yeah I know Seattle has done really well, but it is a decent city with a growing population / income, with very different taxes than California.

I look ...

If your young, just go marry a filipina in a nursing school, wait for her to graduate, and then move to usa...

You may have to support her for 1-2 years, but as long as she gets her RN license approved in USA, she will pay back huge dividends!

Re: Entrepreneurship

I am looking into starting a company before January. My first company will probably be duplex, single family home + AUD, or duplex + aud.
I wouldn't really consider it entrepeneurship or running a small business, I think incorporating it, will allow me to deduct more expenses, help me shelter some ...

"Your plan is to enjoy doing landscaping that no one enjoys so that you can work 10 hr days and have no time to be on computers"
Yes, until I can cherry pick jobs say 2 jobs for a 5 hour work day, for $400 over the 5 hours would be my 2nd year goal, or too expand too two trucks and hire a ...

Re: Government, mega corp, or small dirty business?

You're planning to landscape by playing on the computer all day?

No.
Landscaping will be selling my body/time for 50 hours a week and investing 70k-150k in work truck / tools, and then cherry pick my jobs after the first or second year, and get rid of my "laborer", or expand.

This is the kind ...

Government, mega corp, or small dirty business?

I think I can get a good government jerb in 1 year, because my criminal record will be dismissed (misdemeanor DUI). I estimate my salary will be about 40k + 30k benefits - 70k + 45k benefits if I wait, get a 2 year IT degree + a 4 year business degree and just be a government goon.

I could spend ...

Re: Rejoining the Work Force

I want to smoke weed, bang a hot russian, chinese or colombian mail order bride, and play LOTS of video games; and own a nice house with an acre near/on the outskirts of a major metropolitian area, with a dock or pudget sound, like, ocean, river access.

Roughly I figure my cost per year in living ...

Re: Rejoining the Work Force

Working for Tesla would be a 6 month stint so I could qualify for a 4 plex in North Bay or South Bay, I also want to buy a pumper truck (Hino will run me about 100,000).

Pumping poop, is the kind of industry where you hang your shingle out and wait for a call... so I was hoping I would be able to ...

Rejoining the Work Force

I was arrested two years ago, and was never able to get a decent job since, due to an arrest record, and a bad driving record due to a DUI (this was a bigger problem than an arrest).

Well now my net worth is jumping between 590k and 620k due to some tech stocks I own, and I am still living with my ...

Buying a Government Job?

I want to work for the government again, but I can't find anyone who is willing to hire me for any work.

A lot of government jobs are kind of "given" to family members, for example in the last office I was in about 1/2 the people had a spouse, inlaw, brother or sister working at the same county ...

Re: Just Fired - What should my next move be?

My condolences.

Can't help but look at the date of your post...

It seems like they fired you, right after tax time, is that common?

My first step would be to file for unenemployment (even if they "fired" you "for cause"), and then apply for tons of government jobs in accounting.

California ...

Re: Alternative Investments as opposed to work

One problem i am running into locally is storage.

The plant is open from 6 am - 6 am Monday through Friday.

Liquid Storage Containers running in the 6000-10000 gallon range would allow a company to answer more than 1 call on Saturday + Sunday, which I think would be invaluable for securing ...

Re: Alternative Investments as opposed to work

Coin Laundry and Dry Cleaning seem to be the two "highest cap rate" businesses you see regularly on sites like biz buy sell.
The two businesses often go together, because the coin laundry needs attendance "baby sitting".
Dry cleaners are not known to use safe chemicals, and people are starting to ...

"To answer your original question, I would suggest maybe driving for uber a few days a week or something like that. Forex trading might be something to look into as well."

A DUI prevents me from getting hired in about 95% of trade jobs including Uber, honestly if I raped someone, I would not have ...
