Re: 7WB5- Take 3

I recommend transitioning to a mobile existence, at least for a few months. A slow bicycle camping tour in the direction of cool weather might be appropriate. Your garden will be there when you return. I approached the food strategy by simplifying my diet to oats-raisins-walnuts and fruit in the mor...

Re: Can one control one's thoughts?

Here is an example of a situation where one might want to control or change one's thoughts: It was a long night at the meeting, with heated debate between the two sides. Our protagonist wonders if his argument was clear enough and if he convinced enough members of the board to influence the final vo...

Re: Full time RV-ing as a snowbird?

I think the class c with a toad is a good idea if you limit your seasonal migration range. It will take a lot of fuel to cross the country. A lot of new RVers like to travel and explore, which costs money. After a few years when they settle down they can live on less money. If you can be satisfied i...

Currency is based on paper. Real wealth is ownership of useful things (cattle, lentils) and of skills to create useful things.

Re: Electric self driving vehicles

Local bus transit services will collapse. Will municipalities try to get in the self driving taxi business? I don't think so, there is too much liability. Intercity self driving buses will out-compete passenger trains. Not a big deal in the US, but how will Europe be affected? Roads may fill with tr...

Re: What is Minimum Head Tax and/or Price of Liberty?

It is too bad that the city is interfering, that is a very interesting experiment that you are doing. How is the garden coming along? I have a bid on a tax sale property but it is a minimum bid and will probably be outbid. The real estate market has changed a lot, now everybody wants to buy a house....

Re: Electric self driving vehicles

Companies like Uber and Lyft will be the first to use electric self driving vehicles, so the people that use Uber and Lyft will be the first people that will benefit from lower cost of transport. There will be a rapid capitalist race to the bottom so that eventually the cars will be cheaply made of ...

How will a shift to electric self driving vehicles affect your life, your portfolio and the place you live?

Assuming the author is correct, the shift starts in 2021 and is complete in 2030.

Re: What is Minimum Head Tax and/or Price of Liberty?

I suspect that if you were to put in a concrete slab, they would keep finding other problems and violations. Somebody complained and they don't want anybody living in a trailer in the city.

So if a concrete slab mysteriously appears and you roll your camper on to it, you would be in compliance?

Re: What to do when FI

I enjoy not doing much, just little maintenance things here and there. I take naps and I have a foot massage machine that I use several times a day. Every few days I cook up a pot of beans for my favorite bean taco lunch. A couple of times a month I go to the store to get ingredients for muesli and ...

Re: What is Minimum Head Tax and/or Price of Liberty?

A nonprofit organization, or a religious organization can own land without paying property tax. If you were to set up a nonprofit to teach gardening techniques, you might be able to avoid property taxes. Or put up a garden shed meditation room with an appropriate religious symbol on top of it, and g...

To answer the OP's question, I would go to Freiburg, Germany and would take the train out into the Black Forest and find a small village. Hopefully on a road with not too much traffic.

More freedoms, less social control, cheap gas, rock and roll radio, interesting chaos, real wilderness, parking spaces, lower cost of living, better weather, less traffic, easier for a foreigner to fit in.

Also identify the positive things you get from the net and how you get them. I find that if I type a search word that I want to learn about, I can get high quality results, where if I just run through my bookmarks it's often a waste of time.

Re: Encryption

My activity is not illegal and is pretty boring. I don't like the use of my data for advertising purposes and for political manipulation. I use Google but find its use of data to be excessive. Google has been relatively ethical in the use of data. I don't trust internet service providers at all. The...
