Oh, also, I bought one-way tickets to Lisbon for Feb next year for $150 a pop. The approximate plan is to slow travel round the world, taking as long as we feel like (a year?).
I know someone who did that ;)

Congrats on the gig (preemptively). That's really solid pay. Will this be an in office m-f gig? Where does this take you geographically? Be as vague as you wish. =P

Re: Incassaforte encore AMA interview

1) It's 2021, the world is in the state it's currently in. JLF + Wife suddenly find themselves without their house or possessions which tie them to current geographical location. If you could put down roots again anywhere in the world, where would it be? 2) You could share a meal/walk/evening with a...

Musings Work My employer is small (<100 employees), and recently acquired by private equity. The new business model is completely fucked. My job is to essentially squeeze every last drop of revenue possible from our existing customer base, with no concern for the long term relationship with our cus...

Re: Semi-ERE Year 3 - Wanderlust Prevails

That's rolling, and it's going to go up significantly in the next 9 months as our spending stabilizes......predict somewhere around 4.5% 2020 was an extremely unusual spending year (unsustainably low) for our household. My individual TTM WR = 1.54%, but that's also going to stabilize around 3.5% by ...

Re: Semi-ERE Year 3 - Wanderlust Prevails

March was an active month, with 8 weightlifting sessions, 201 miles walked, and 140 miles biked. Work was manageable, but far from enjoyable. I am planning how to best exit. Spending was high, but 50% was accommodation related. Life was interesting and had a lot of variety sprinkled in. Much discuss...

@Stasher, nice to see you finally participating on the ere boards :) DW and I are definitely blessed to both work completely remotely for the time being. We've been busy on the weekends, exploring the surrounding area, visiting with more family in other parts of the state, and trying to take advant...

Popping in to say that you've motivated me to start looking at flats in smaller eastern EU city. The area I'm looking is more expensive, but starting to see livable options for ~60k EUR.

An update is in order, especially since today marks a year since we departed on our adventure. Our plans beyond June are thwarted by the uncer...

Re: Semi-ERE Year 3 - Wanderlust Prevails

@Fc, in hindsight, it was a great move. Then again, Ego made a comment few pages back.......we tend to find the silver lining in most situations. The biggest benefit has been outdoor time. We walked ~130 miles, mountain biked 52 miles, and weight lifted 10 times in February. On top of that, I would ...
