You probably want something gritty like crushed egg shells or ash to act as a barrier.
That could be an idea too. Save shells from cooking and save the ashes from the bbq?

Re: Mechanical protection against garden slugs?

I think I will try to go for sand, for two reasons: first to protect against slugs... duh! Second because my hand mower doesn't mow completely flush with the raised bed and so I either need to find a manual way to trim that last strip of grass or I need to find a way to stop grass from growing so cl...

Mechanical protection against garden slugs?

So my fledgling square meter garden is coming along nicely. That is, it WAS coming along nicely until a large amount of slugs decided that all our small seedlings (yes we started a garden way too late, that was actually somewhat calculated) make for a great buffet. Naturally I've built a couple of b...

There is really not much to structure. I'm alone from 9 to 16 so I have all the time I need to work when I want to. Pomodors only really work as intended if you can shut EVERYTHING out so if you can't coerce the rest of the household to leave you alone there isn't much you can do about that. If you ...

Yes, thinking that i have to make music seems to help a lot. I produced one tune a day for the last days. Having responsabilities seems key. It's a take on procrastination that I've yet to see. Not 100 percent novel, but tackles procrastination from a different angle than usual. http://lesswrong.co...

Well if you need hormone A to awaken the desire to do activity Aa then you will feel less inclined to to activity Aa. I started assembling some images as well and then it dawned on me that I didn't want to look at pictures of other people doing things I'd like to do in a few years. I'd rather look at a collection of images of me doing a little NOW, of what I'm going to be doing a LOT of later.

@FBeyer, I like the Bruce-lee-dodge imagery. It rings true. But mindfulness hasn't worked for me. I'm probably just too impatient for results. ... optimists and Buddhists have the same problem (from my perspective.) If they are doing their thing right, they don't address looming issues. Pessimists ...
