It might be useful, depending on what you want to achieve.

Aldi

Aldi gets mentioned here once in a while. Here's an article in the Guardian on them, with a focus on the UK, which some might enjoy reading: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/mar/05/long-read-aldi-discount-supermarket-changed-britain-shopping And if you can enjoy some gossip and drama, Aldi ...

Re: Gold

It has been a while that I have made a contribution of questionable usefulness/quality to the forum, so here I go: "Gold is for the mistress - silver for the maid - Copper for the craftsman cunning at his trade! "Good!" said the Baron, sitting in his hall, "But Iron - Cold Iron -...

Here's another article: www.theguardian.com/money/2018/nov/20/can-anyone-retire-in-their-30s-meet-the-people-who-say-yes "(...) Through his widely read blog, Adeney has become the philosopher king of the movement, though he admits his ideas were anticipated by earlier practitioners such as Jaco...

Re: Man commutes by paddle board to avoid toll

Here's an article about a man who uses the local river to swim about 2km to work: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/sep/29/experience-i-swim-to-work I read somewhere else that on the way back he walks or takes the bus. It's probably not really a practical option for most people, but neve...

@Finn When I replied to your post where you mentioned that you started Total Immersion swimming, I had totally forgotten about your first post, where you state that you are an INTP. In MBTI speak, intraverted thinking is my dominant function as well. Maybe that's why it appeals to us so much. The c...

Re: Finn's three year plan

wow, you sound like a serious athlete Ha! Not really. I jut wanted to know what I can do/prove it to myself, so I got into long and ultra distance triathlons and runs for a few years. But I mainly competed with myself, and I haven't participated in any events for a while. I still go running , cycli...

Re: Finn's three year plan

I've also started learning Total Immersion swimming That's great! I also got into TI swimming a couple of years ago in preparation for long distance triathlons. It just makes swimming so easy and pleasant, it's amazing. You just need a book, a little bit of patience and willingness to start practic...

Re: Too Old To Retire "Young"

I always used to joke that when I'd had enough I was simply going to step in front of a bus. I get it was a joke, but I think it's worth pointing out, that that would not be a very nice thing to do. For the bus driver, I mean. Unless you really dislike bus drivers in general or you are pretty sure ...

@animal Thank you for taking the time to answer to my questions. Your response confirms what I had expected.

I've seen Dick Proennekes videos on youtube and the vice documentary on Heimo Korth a while ago. Both very nice to watch, imo, iirc.
