Re: PT
I would agree it would look like a lot of work to a American. But for someone who isn't, PT may seem like a good option compared to hell holes we live in. Its not about tax for most of us. I was looking for more of a discussion of intricacies of PT as it is related to ERE and not a discussion on con...

Re: PT
Its about freedom from government and the rest of nonsense that can come with it. Freedom from..... How is your government intruding in your life? Honest question. Not facetious. I just wanted to start a discussion on this as it is related to ERE so that I can gauge its viability. I do have some pr...

Re: PT
Well, enigmaT120, its not exactly all about taxes like you said. Its about freedom from government and the rest of nonsense that can come with it. Which may include low to no taxes based on your income and residency.

Thanks. I have already read it.jennypenny wrote:@Summer--Read The Snowball. It's pretty good. I'm not a Buffett fan, but it's hard to deny his basic formula of work hard, never stop learning, and do your own research.

Re: Do others Respect you if you don't have a Job and ERE
But, it's more fun to try, than not. Certainly. @GandK and @jennypenny, I don't. I have decided not to after more pondering than I have done for many other things. The last post I made said that and said what I say when I encounter the what do you do for a living question. As for my personality it ...

Re: Do others Respect you if you don't have a Job and ERE
I've come across another related issue as with telling people about ERE. That is telling people what I do for a living. Like many of your discussed. Last month or so, I went to the local telecoms office and the customer service person was quite helpful even though I had many issues to resolve with t...

Re: Few questions?
Why in the world do you think that Buffett is 3-sigma?? I don't think you know very much about Buffett. Edit: I see you also asked how Buffett views himself, so I see that you do not know very much about Buffett. He very well knows how many sigma he is, but he constantly plays down his ability in i...

PT
Perpetual Traveler or Prior Taxpayer or PT is a concept widely related to ERE. Yet, there aren't many discussions on it here. I would like to have one. Here is a starting point to people who don't know what it is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_traveler

Re: Do others Respect you if you don't have a Job and ERE
I think everybody is referring to this one thing. There is actually a local politician where I live that is famous for this. He is known for listening for and agreeing with everyone. But when it comes to doing something, he does what he wants. Everybody else who thought they influenced him when he a...

Just a duckduckgo.com search for "early retirement" and ERE was the third or fourth result but by far the most eye catching because it says extreme.

Re: Few questions?
I never said capital preservation isn't a goal of mine. But in a scale of one to five it is a three and capital appreciation is at a five while current income at a four throughout the most of the investment horizon.

Re: Do others Respect you if you don't have a Job and ERE
Summer, it sounds like you might benefit from learning a little about stoicism. People can only bring negativity into your life if you allow them to do so. As others have said, a one liner would not make an ignorant individual change their mind. There are better ways of dealing with personal confli...

Re: Do others Respect you if you don't have a Job and ERE
This is the last post for a long day I have spent researching on this area. Most of you have got entirely the wrong idea about one liners. They sure aren't about feeling superior like one of you suggested. They at the core are about shutting other people off from bringing negativity to your life. Do...

Re: Do others Respect you if you don't have a Job and ERE
Let me elaborate. It is great to ignore them lifetime workers but it is superb to use a one liner to get in their heads and mess them up. So that they can't worry you every time they at least try to contradict you with useless words of theirs. For example, when a stupid person says I have to get mar...

First of all thanks a lot. Your workout routine is specific to you. I probably will use Joe De Franco's workouts if there is one for beginners. However, Marks workouts book is one that I already have so I might as well do them. Being it that it is for beginners and Chad firstly recommended that anyw...

Re: Professional qualifications - a scam?
What's wrong is racking up multiple qualifications without an end. If you have one big terminal qualification you should be fine. If you don't even have that, you should really consider getting one regardless of your revolutionary ideas. You won't regret it ERE or otherwise. If you hate professional...

Re: Do others Respect you if you don't have a Job and ERE
I was looking for more of a one liner that will shut them off for good and let them see how foolish they are. I have a lot of those for other areas of life I am interested in but not ERE. I think that is particularly because I am not well versed in its subjects yet.
