Re: Fox's Journey: And Onto the Sunlight!

If I were to give some advice as to what to do: stay six months to a year to get use to your job, figure out where you and your girl are gonna stand, and get the visa requirements ready. Because that is also something to consider; the proof of income and requirements for visas might be high wherever...

LUL.

American internet is shit. living in Asia is not that bad depending on where you live, and your brother sounds much more traditional than you.

Go for remote work. Listen to the @theanimal.

Re: Fox's Journey: And Onto the Sunlight!

I wish you best of luck no matter your decision. Choosing between 1 and 2 is hard. Make sure you can work outside the US for your job though. You might have already checked that, but make sure, However, if I may suggest places to see that are LCOL (at least in Europe): 1) Georgia (Country): LCOL and...

Re: Fox's Journey: And Onto the Sunlight!

Yeah, joining the Army can be a crapshoot is honestly a gamble. As I said before, I can give you a recruiter's email and ask if he has any GIS leads still available. Last week they were still trying to find people. The clientele my company works for has Apple and Google in it repertoire. You are a s...

Re: Fox's Journey: And Onto the Sunlight!

Interestingly, some of the geology companies have given the feedback that my resume is too overqualified/fancy. Finished a few gis/coding interviews, so maybe that’ll go somewhere. I showed the interviewers sample projects and they seemed to be impressed. I honestly might quit trying to find work &...

Someone in GIS:

A lot of GIS is public work however some public institutes are moving towards remote work. However private work is possible with a couple companies hiring GIS techies.

My job is actually GIS contractor work in Austin. Let me know if you are interested in any case.

Re: Garden Log

Do you let some of your crop go to seed and harvest the seeds for planting next year? We switched spots at our community garden to a bigger one and the prior person abandoned their plot towards the end of the season. We took some of the rotten tomatoes and planted the seeds in soil and grew some to...

Re: New Orleans, Gulf Coast or Southeastern United States

This article gives the impression that the levies are built to withstand storms much stronger than Ida, but then again I think we’ve heard that line before: https://apnews.com/article/technology-environment-and-nature-new-orleans-hurricanes-science--ef633010bf2a081f9beeb8a425998710 Agreed. Re: Dead White Man's Clothes: The Environmental Disaster Fuelled by Used Clothes

I just watched this and it's quite alarming the amount of clothes that end up in the ocean, and that's just one area. They mentioned it's the big fashion companies who are the problem as they overproduce by 60% as part of their business model. What are some ways to try and avoid this? Buy only from...
