Re: Medicaid - Major Income Change Mid Year
I over estimated my income several years in a row, because I wanted ACA rather than Medicaid, but I got busted for over-estimating, so now if I want to go back on ACA I have to provide proof in writing that Medicaid officially disqualified me. Which is okay for now because I have huge medical expen...

Re: Medicaid - Major Income Change Mid Year
I also read somewhere that if your annual income is below the Medicaid threshold, you shouldn’t be kicked off Medicaid even if you have 1 month/season above the threshold. You may have to explain the uneven income though. Uneven income takes some explaining. If income is recurring, say semi-annual ...

Re: Medicaid - Major Income Change Mid Year
The fact that ACA is yearly and Medicaid is monthly is kind of a big PITA for those of us who wish to be semi-retired with intermittent or uneven income distribution through the year. I don't see how this is a problem. If you are on regular ACA you will stay on until you do a re-estimate to drop in...

Re: Medicaid - Major Income Change Mid Year
It is monthly based. Previous months don't count.
Get in now and you are locked in to at least through Jan 2023 due to the pandemic emergency.
Monthly income limit is $1,563 for a one person house.

Re: Brexit
I can't believe that Brits are not more upset about loosing rights to live and work in Europe without restriction. It is a huge loss that will hurt the ability to retire, to arbitrage geographically, to have a say about where Europe is headed. When will they wake up that it is just plain bad for eve...

Just think to the future when you tell them you quit work, and they still have decades of toil ahead of them.

Raspberry Pi 2 can play video perfectly using its hardware decoder. Good for a home theater video player for the ultra cheap.
I would not like to use it as a general use computer, it is too slow for me.

Re: What do ERE-ers pay for health insurance in 2016?
It would be worse without it. At least you have a possibility to get something off with it. Without it there is no way to game it for anyone. If you make $47,080 the second lowest cost Silver plan should be no more than $380 per month after subsidy. (9.69% between 300-400 FPL) Those pre ACA cheap po...

The 400% FPL for one person is $47,080. So anything under this will get you some subsidy.

Re: Brexit
I read that May was a Remainer prior to the vote. If she knows it will be bad for the UK what are the chances that she deliberately throws a monkey wrench in at the last minute and it never actually happens? For the record, I hope they Remain since I just got a UK passport which will be a lot less u...

Re: What do ERE-ers pay for health insurance in 2016?
I am wondering if the states that did not expand Medicaid and have lax insurance regulation are the ones with the most problems?
The ACA wasn't originally designed to have Medicaid as an option for the states.

Re: What do ERE-ers pay for health insurance in 2016?
I am on NY Medicaid and it is great. All my doctors from when I worked are in the plan. The ACA is very easy to game, you just have to know the rules and apply some effort to work within them. If ACA went away there is no way to game anything. No worry about premium increases either. If you live in ...
