Re: Incassaforte encore AMA interview
Excellent. I have some questions for both of you: What is your favorite dish you can make (and do you have a recipe?) Would you rather fight 1 horse-sized duck or 100 duck-size horses? What is something you want to achieve this year? How did you meet your partner? What is the quality your partner li...

Re: Interview with Jacob
I enjoyed it too! I felt it was more of some kind of back and forth (aka a conversation) you would have at a meetup, because you (Seppia) also share some stories or opinions on certain topics. So don't worry about your interview technique, unless jacob was very miffed that he couldn't talk about his...

Re: The ERE Wheaton Scale
I think replacing the SR or spending by something like the just developed Income Robustness Score might also be a good idea. More generally, I think some measure of the robustness/resilience of ones web of goals (explicit or implicit) also makes sense.

IR: 1 + 0.63 + 0.41 = 2.04. 1 active, 1.04 passive(ish) (<2 hours of work a week). If my active source went away the passive numbers would be higher because of tax stuff. H-IR (@nomadscientist idea) would be 3*0.41= 1.23

Re: 2021 online ERE meetup
All right! I count 4 yes, 1 yes if no clash, 1 wary yes and 1 yes but prefer later. I think if we are with 7 we can simply use zoom/google meets/jitsi. Wrt to your comments: Office hours: I'm not sure yet. We can always try it, but I think it's also nice to keep it a bit special and to chew a bit lo...

2021 online ERE meetup
I was wondering if forumites here would be interested in doing a digital meetup! Since most of us have gained a lot of experience with online meetings, I thought it could be nice to have an online meetup with you people as well. As for the format, I'm still mulling it over. I see several options: We...

Re: leanFIRE and fatFIRE definitions
Lean FIRE: I'd have to cut spending somewhere. FIRE: I could continue living exactly as I do now. Fat FIRE: I could spend even more and live like a king. So for people new to the concept, it's a sliding scale of sacrifice. That's how you get multi-millionaires in HCOL areas talking about how living...

Anything clever you see me write, chances are good I ripped it off from Jacob, James Clear, Cal Newport, Scott Young, John Boyd, JMG, or David Allen. No worries, shoulders of giants etc! Accruing, combining and synthesizing is a useful skill in its own right (shoutout to jacobs 6C framework) And RE...

Re: Lending out Crypto or how to generate other income streams?
If I recall correctly, someone asked a for advice in a similar situation a few weeks ago. The consensus was that you'd be better off stating your case at the boglehead forums, since there are more people there with your NW than here. My 2 cts is that your main focus should be on capital preservation...

Re: Radical Personal Finance Interview with Jacob: How ERE Protects from Catastrophic Risk
I AM looking to do more podcasts but mostly as either an interviewee or a conversation, not as a interviewer. I want to explore different kinds of media. I figure it's about time. Also contemplating doing something like a set of lectures or some such. Huh, interesting! What kind of content would yo...

Re: Radical Personal Finance Interview with Jacob: How ERE Protects from Catastrophic Risk
Another great interview! Joshua is a good interviewer and allowed you to expand on the topic. A couple of thoughts that went through my head when I listened to this interview: I liked how this interview tied in with some things Taleb has written about as well in Antifragile. Don't think too hard abo...

Re: Affordable Ebook Reader
I'd just look at craigslist or something for a secondhand kindle. My 4th generation kindle still works just fine (~10 years old). You will need open source software like calibre to convert epub to mobi, since kindle can't handle epubs.
An alternative would be to simply use your phone!

Re: The ERE Wheaton Scale
Does this also imply that one should not overthink things too much? (Heh, fat chance with all the NT's around here
). At least I could benefit from just starting with new simple things without thinking too much about all the details.

Damn Viktor, you and your family have had a really tough time! I am sorry to hear it and wish you all the strength, love and perseverance you need. Re dnd: what an amazing side gig! Re: ERE Mastermind Group
AxelHeyst, thanks for initiating this and having this great write-up! In general, I agree with your proposed structure. A couple of thoughts and amendments: First of all: 90 minutes of focussed discussion is L O N G. I would prefer 60 minutes max, or we could do 60 minute plenary session and ~20 min...

Re: Street Smart / Book Smart
Wisdom vs Intelligence in DND terms. Both can be cultivated to some extent, by reading Dale Carnegie or taking a course on abstract thinking, but there are (genetic) limits. Then again, doing a lot of deliberate practice might help you reach higher levels than expected.

+1 for using the ISIN number! I just paste it into my brokers search box and the locally available ticker names pop up.
