Re: How to quit coffee?

To put this in purely materialist terms that may resonate more with folks here : lifted from the Coffee thread in these forums : You get value by buying overpriced coffee in cafes. You can go ERE by substituting expensive coffee-shop coffee with coffee brewed at home. You may further economize by f...

do ya'll think it's a good idea to go to college in your 40's? Depends, you'll have to calculate (increase in pay caused by new qualification, multiplied by number of years you plan to work in this new job) minus (loss of salary due to leaving employment plus college costs including fees), times ch...

Re: Can one control one's thoughts?

How Do You Stop the Mind's Chatter? 1 the wish to control ones thoughts is not absolute: we only want to control unpleasant (distracting) thoughts, we have no problem with pleasant thoughts 2 You cannot control any other of your internal organs- liver, heart, kidney etc. What makes you think your m...

I have met a woman, whom I feel attracted to. Good luck with the woman. I think you are being very self conscious, which is ok. According to Dr Jordan Peterson, and my experience concurs with him- Men have an image of feminine perfection, in their mind, which is almost divine, that they use to insp...

Re: Optimizing eating not-at-home expenses?

As for eating at a restaurant or cafe, I have no idea here. Maybe saving elsewhere or suggesting to cook? Only so many times I can suggest cooking before it's clear I don't want to pay the prices of a meal at a restaurant. I don't like feeling cheap. I'm sure this is a common challenge. How do you ...

In the matter of empirical life, human procedure is identical to all animals

"Theory of mind" compels us to project agency or thought patterns on other humans, animals and even objects that we see acting in a certain way or even appearing a certain way. It is almost uniquely a human trait -- whether animals possess it at all, and to what extent, is still a matter of great c...

Re: Open relationship?

I would assume this chart actually visualizes the implications of polygyny (many wives), as opposed to polygamy (many spouses gender-neutrality?) Polygamy only. If dowry is the cost women pay to marry up, then women of high socioeconomic status pick mates off the top of the male dominance hierarchy...
