Re: Felipes Journal

So 1 month later and I have moved out. I'm living in a low col area and it's quite nice. I've left my home country to see the world. I'm a little scared of the food and water so I'll focus on restaurants and groceries as opposed to street food. I was planning on street food but after seeing a huge l...

Re: An American Millennial

A reinstall will probably do the trick. Which app do you use? I think those are some good starting points. Rejection is a part of selling, 7 left. With ymoyl you can then track expenses in terms of hours of life cost and later reflect on whether it was worth it. Private tutoring is more than twice o...

Ie-Couch surfing and hostels are among the cheapest ways to sleep in cities under a roof and are very social.

Re: Optimizing eating not-at-home expenses?

Setting a weekly budget communicated with your lover will work better than trying to never go out to eat. $20-$40 gives enough room to work with in my experience but I live in a very high col area. Splitting meals and some coupons work too. I've had ~$10 each for multi course meals splitting appetiz...

Re: Five Years, Lord Willing

Ouch. I've been there too. I get that part of you wants to change some other part of you and sees this part as not having value. While it's possible, it seems to me you're comparing the costs of 1 action/habit to the benefits of another. Are you overlooking the benefits of these behaviors you want t...

That's the kind of energy you'll benefit from to change those deeply ingrained habits. It's like changing the course of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.

I hope things get better for you man.

Sweet progress on the Chinese. I've started playing with memrise and learned a few phrases. You're very aware of your numbers, which is awesome and let's you do some math. You seem conflicted about part time work. Have you done a ymoyl style analaysis to see $/hr from it? Maybe it earns less than ap...

Why Fraud Alert is Better than a Freeze

I've been researching and while everyone seems to recommend a freeze, an alert seems better in many regards. Following are my comparisons of security: Freeze cons relative to alert: *Does not protect against opening accounts with creditors who already have accessed credit in past *Costs money and ti...

Seriously considering freezing credit, though it makes credit card bonus sign ups less realistic due to fees.

How the hell do they not have a lawsuit for insider trading?

The executives cashed out stock the week before sharing the news, well after the hack itself happened.

Re: Learn to Navigate Urban Areas?

I'd recommend to study a map of where you want to navigate then go see how it compares to the map, learn to use a compass as well. Without building a mental map, it's unrealistic to know an area beforehand. So pull up a map of the route you plan on walking/driving to know where you're going, things ...

(2) Sheets of 3/4" Plywood (3/4 RTD SHTG) @ $17.97 = $35.94 .75"~~ 19mm thickness Honestly, this doesn't look hard. It looks time consuming. I have no doubts you can do this but construction work is generally a lot easier with an extra person to hold something up or stabilize moving big objects. Gf ...

Re: Omega3 Diet

Sardine and salmon have great Omega 3:6 but salmon have more toxins due to trophic level. Sardines are cheap and great for this. Nuts/seeds are typically high in Omega 6:3 except flax seeds. I don't think high Omega 3 is a cure all but balanced Omega 3:6 (1:1-2) is much better than the grossly skewe...

Re: Anyone else sitting on cash?

I'm still dca in. I don't think 10% is huge. Buffet called that a reasonable cash allocation in the recommendation for his will and other investors. Up to 10% sounds like a fat e fund rather than sitting on cash to me. There are some good ways to conservatively grow like Wellesley or permanent portf...

I initially thought something similar. If you look around, a lot of the men around here are happily coupled. I spend money with girls I like but not huge. Gas or food or firewood cost money but every girl understands that I value frugality, minimalism, health, honesty, and the environment. They are ...

How did I know that name was you? It took you 3-5 years to finish college. 12ish to finish grade. It'll take 4-10 years to buy your freedom. You're almost there.
