Yes, the data above is U.S. centric. Although interestingly enough, it seems that broadly this inflation trend was similar in Europe during the past couple centuries:
Amazingly enough, the Nineteenth century was a period of deflation, rather than inflation. From the end of the Napoleonic Wars in ...

Re: EVERYTHING Too $$$ Now
Getting back to the premise of whether things are getting more expensive relatively to history, the answer is yes. However, it wasn't always this way. We used to have a hard money standard and inflation was low/stable:

(3) No! The success rate for professionals is 10% and it takes 1-2 years of 24/7 focus to try before you start breaking even (and that's if you're in the 10%). This is a high risk move. 90% lose their "tuition money" ... (by paying it to the older 10%).
As one of the 1% of retail traders making ...

Seeking Happiness
Certainly not a unique goal. I would guess most people seek to be happy. But what does that even mean? For most of my life I followed the "American Dream": 1) work hard, 2) dream about buying the next thing, 3) buy it, 4) regret it, 5) repeat.

Re: The Career Risk Traders Are Unaware Of.
Interesting article. Most of the successful independent traders I know (a small handful of the thousands of retail traders I've met) have a few things in common: 1) a former career that paid well, 2) a big bank roll, 3) patience to deal with the dry spells. Also day trading has been dead for nearly ...

Bubbles tend to go on longer than most people think. The same will be the case with ZIRP. Eventually the macro fundamentals will assert themselves on global economies and force a different policy from central banks; however, until that time the markets will continue to grind higher fueled by ...
