Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
the six subjects are: dogs, game knowledge, laws, nature conservation and protection, weapons, hunting techniques. I think the exams are mostly a way to keep people out of that activity. Other places do it by charging more money. Big game are boars, deers, roe deer, chamois, there are also ducks and...

Alkohol and Musik facilitated paneuropean fraternity
@Chris
I remember the fortress, I was there in 2006. I really liked it and went there everiday. I didn't know about kajmak, it looks like something I might like.
Is there any spot to swim in the Danube?

Re: ERE Travel Thread
I'll spend the last week of August in Belgrade, and the 2 or 3 weeks before in Latvia. I'll attend ERE fest in Latvia, and I'll be with a group in Belgrade.
I really would like suggestion about Belgrade. Is anyone living there?
In Latvia, I'll mostly chillingly explore the coutryside.

Re: Gaming/virtual economies (EVE online)
I think a lot of the call of nature, is because we still need to feel how much a part of NATURE we are. At least for me, hunting will be about experiencing existence how NATURE made us experience it for the last million years. Learning about Nature is just a mean to this end. Technology freeing up s...

Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
I think there is one variety of colorblindness that makes it easier to distinguishe nuances of brown in the forest. But Red deers and Roe deer have similar colors, so color blindness shouldn't interfere, Red deers are much bigger. Males weight around 150kg, while male roe deer are closer to 20kg. Bu...

Re: Gaming/virtual economies (EVE online)
I skipped some step in my reasoning. The reason why you choose to stop caring about nature, is because nature will disapear. So if this is enough of a reason, it is only logical to stop caring about everything that will disapear. Everything disapear. And everything is beyond our full grasp. I think ...

I just want to state that I'll be at the meetup. I'll probably arrive during the week. It's not clear yet how i'll make my way to latvia from switzerland. At the end, I'll fly to Belgrade on sunday night to meet other people. I have the secret hope that the opportunity to meet me will draw people to...

Re: Gaming/virtual economies (EVE online)
I think the opposition to stop "caring" exists because if you draw the reasoning to the end, you should just kill yourself to avoid suffering from the loss of your own life.
Which take away every meaning life has.
And we crave meaning.

Re: Gaming/virtual economies (EVE online)
It may be that the percieved lack of positive feedback in nature is caused by a lack of ability to percieve it. A little bit like we learn as baby to learn differentiate the different phonemes in our own language, and other languages sound like random sound without a lot of effort, it might be that ...

Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
@guitarplayer thanks for the article, it was interesting. 2millions is a lot of deers.
In the uk, does deer means red deers? or red deers and roe deers together?
It might take a of time to know what happens with the job. Possibly several months.

But factually, I think the patent office isn't in the same building anymore, they turned the old one into the einstein museum, so all it takes is a visit to the museum after a huge milkshake.

in most southern germany, you need to buy the hunting right for an individual plot of land. Is it similar in the north/east?
