Re: Meetup in the Netherlands

Hi, @Ayanka , Wageningen is easily reached by train from Amsterdam and Rotterdam in about an hour (actually the geographic midpoint of NL is quite close to Wageningen). We can also move to another place, if that cuts down journey times. I think that as it is the middle of the country it is a logica...

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands

Same, I'm afraid. I had hoped the middle of the Netherlands would be a bit closer to Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Not that I mind the other parts in the least, but public transport is so much better there. I looked it up, but 3 hours one way and 3 hours back might be a bit much. So maybe next time :).

Re: Letting In the Jungle

Hugs, you are not alone and the world is not against you. There are just a lot of people who are afraid of anything out of the ordinary because they are afraid of what they could become if something happens to them. They are afraid of their own weaknesses because they have never had to confront them...

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands

HI Ayanka, last time we had an American young lady who joined our meeting, so I think you are welcome too. Last time we had our meeting in the middle of the Netherlands, I suppose that is not too far from Belgium to join. Ok, thanks for the heartily welcome. I ' ll fill in the doodle and see what c...

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands

Hey, I am Belgian, would I be allowed to participate? Or is the location just too far from the border to be feasible to make it?

@maxysu, unless they do a very different job in Switzerland, doing an auction is generally for bank owned building, short sales aka problem buildings that have to be sold now. You can get a higher price at an auction, but possibly also a way lower price. Read through all of the paperwork before goin...

Re: Resign on a small sum

Jan, I think the reason so little of our countrymen and women are jumping on the FIRE train is a combination of not knowing it and that net wages are relatively low. For non-Belgians, we have an insane amount of income tax on higher wages up to 50% is not unusual on the highest scales (similar syste...

Ayanka's Journal

Please don't expect one of the great journals of some of the bright minds inhere. Sadly for me it might be more of a place to dump the excess thought. Ok let's start with the recent past. In June 2015 I got so tired after 2.5 months of working nights, lates and weekends that I had to stay home for a...

Re: Pagliaccio, Brazilian, 22 < X < 28 years old, hard mode.

I did a quick google search and apparently there is a market for Portuguese/English translation work online. I have no idea about the reliability, so you might have to do an attempt (40 USD for a 1000 words seems fishy to me) but it might be an idea you can try right now. Speaking both Portuguese an...

Re: DutchGirl's journal

I have read through your whole journal and it was a source of inspiration for me. I am Belgian (my ancestors where Dutch though) and it was hard to find someone to identify with on a lot of the frugality sites I found. I hope you manage to finish your PhD and don't think no one will ever read it. I ...
