"US virologist Robert Gallo of the Institute of Human Virology in Maryland has confirmed he is working with a team who will make an announcement shortly that will have “a major effect” on global efforts to tackle Covid-19. Best known for his role in the discovery of HIV as the infectious agent respo...

Re: COVID-19

Further to Ego's point on BCG vaccination: More ‘striking’ evidence BCG vaccine might protect against Covid-19 Study shows countries with vaccination programmes have far fewer cases. Compare Spain and Portugal numbers of positives and deaths from Covid 19. Portugal vaccinates using BCG... Spain does...

Re: What are you doing during the confinement ?

I have spent the most glorious day that I've had in ages... don't want it to end. I am at remote house near deserted beach and elderly parents. Just spent the day wandering around on it listening to classical radio music. Cold but bright and beautiful... Planning to exchange my surf boards for Stand...

Re: COVID-19

Jennypenny I can only imagine the stress that you are under trying to protect your son...every move you make outside your home makes you second guess yourself. I am the same with my elderly parents when it's my turn to care for them. All carers have been cancelled due to risk. It is so difficult...a...

Thanks found it in The Guardian.

I think this could be the path back to normality for a lot of people.

Re: COVID-19

Just heard a snapshot sentence from an interview with a Dr.Garret A.Fitzgerald,Perelman school of medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He said they will be screening 5,000 people for Coronovirus antibodies next week. Can't find any other information on the internet on this...has anyone any links/kn...

Re: COVID-19

That should have read

50% of people who tested "positive" had no symptoms.

I am fighting with a lethargic internet as the world is using it from home now...as well as all the ferocious gamers.

Re: COVID-19

Iceland has tested it's population for Covid 19 extensively. "Relatively speaking (per thousand people or per million people), the number per million tested in Iceland is almost 4× the number per million tested in South Korea." 50% of people tested had no symptoms. It will be vital to get antibody s...

Re: COVID-19

Possible hope for future : The development of serum antibody tests for Covid 19. These would be like pregnancy tests; very user friendly to use, with a result in 3 minutes. A recent Nature article published 20th March 2020,"Covert coronavirus infections could be seeding new outbreaks" estimates "asym...

Re: The Reluctant Journal

Jacob that bike helmet obviously saved your head from being cracked down the middle...you Scandinavians are always the "gold standard" for the rest of us. Obviously I had no need for a bike helmet as I was only on a tiddely fold up bike... really how could anyone ever get injured on one of those? th...

Re: The Reluctant Journal

Thanks everyone but as I kept saying to everyone who was horrified looking at my bloodied face "No pity parties"! I feel so lucky...the only thing I have to do is replace my front teeth...then I'm going to pretend it never happened. Funny C40 you should mention you had a similar bicycle accident...i...

Re: The Reluctant Journal

So the world has changed utterly... I feel so anxious and there really isn't much I can do about it. I am so worried about my elderly parents dying from Covid 19. At age 89 and 88 if they catch it at the peak and get very sick...then seemingly if hard decisions need to be made...as to who gets the l...

Re: 7Wannabe5- Take 6

Just learn from this experience. I worked in a Hellhole...got myself out of it (eventually)...and as dissatisfying as my current position is...it is easy and I'm never risking going back to a Hellhole. Make a plan to get out of it...it will make it easier to bear... stick to the plan and you will wi...

Re: Too Old To Retire "Young"

2 points The first one you are enacting,(I think Scot 2 develops this concept very well in his journal) spend money to make life as stress free and easy for yourself as you can. You earn great money...use it to make your life easier. Hire a personal trainer if your health is so important to you...sl...

Re: The Reluctant Journal

Again will be interested to see if you follow through on this. It is a great idea to go straight from work. The 2 days I work I just slump on the sofa in front of the TV in the evenings... shattered. I think I've gone soft and now even resent the 2 days "in prison" with no autonomy over my time. Bes...

Re: The Reluctant Journal

Today I did 15 pushups without stopping...amazing as my most was 6 before I started the weights.

I am only doing them 4 weeks *3 a week.
I already feel like I have an outer growth of muscle on my arms.

Excited to see results after 12 weeks...
