Re: mooretrees journal

Boots are a good investment. Get some good socks to go with the boots if you dont have some. I like the rei brand wool hiking socks. Darn tough is often mentioned in bifl and fire circles but the ones I bought turned out to be thinner and less comfortable for me. Imgur is a good way to host pics to ...

Are those steps coming out of the stone wall? What for?

Also, it's good to hear from you. Glad things are going ok.

Recommended Parenting Books?

Any parenting books you would recommend (or avoid) for toddler through kindergarten age? I've read Hunt, Gather, Parent and a ton of baby books already. There are so many books available and so many different schools of thought its hard to narrow it down. I did a search of the forums and the only bo...

Wine takes less gear, no heat, can be made in very small batches. Ever heard of prison wine? :D If I remember correctly, you just buy a bottle of fruit juice, dump out some, add yeast, replace cap with an airlock, and wait. Hard cider is the same. Obviously it can get more complicated if you want. W...

Re: Alternatives to Padded Cycling Shorts

Niagara cycles and pricepoint both used to be very cheap and went out of business. Nashbar has closeout bike shorts for cheap. A friend swears by Moosejaw for gear deals. REI outlet also has deals sometimes. Amazon but really look at what you are getting. I bought some $20 bike shorts from pricepoin...

Does anyone have experience raising acidity of soil?
No experience but pine needles are acidic. Possibly available locally for free.

Re: Garden Log

I'd like to get a drum composter so I can spin the compost instead of turning it. My current set up is a struggle to use. OK, I've had a drum composter for a year or two so here's my review. I don't like it that much and I'm glad I found it on the curb and didn't pay for it. I'm happy to have the e...

Great find! If you don't have a use for it you could sell it and mentally use the money to discount the price of the road bike you bought.

Gdp, have you done (or considered) therapy? Do you think it'd be appropriate, if it could help you sort out some of these personality traits you seem to not necessarily like but accept about yourself? (Asking as someone who still hasn't gone to therapy of any kind, but wishes I could tell my younge...

Thanks prudentelo. I'm not down because of the market. It's the realization that my numbers just aren't adding up to FIRE anytime soon and that there's little I can do to improve the situation given my personal circumstances.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you are able to get help if needed. I'm glad to hear you are finding ways to make it work. I wish you the best of luck with everything, especially having a baby soon. It's real tough but enjoy it because it really does go by fast.

Re: Gilberto de Piento's Journal

As someone without children I feel that as a source of emptiness. If I have a child now I’ll be 53 when the child turns 18. The longer I wait, the less I would be able to enjoy being a father, and the older I will be when I have them. It is not all my fault, because it takes two to tango, but that ...

Perhaps you could take pleasure in developing skills and the tools for resilience while you wait it out. I think one of the nice things about ERE i...
