Re: A Jacob Mention

i don't pretend to be on the majority here, and this is his forum, and the record speaks for itself, people are here for him. I'm not here for Jacob. I like his ideas but the forum on the whole is interesting to me and a place for me to get a kind of socializing I dont get anywhere else. I haven't ...

Re: Open Offer Urban Permaculture

@7w5 I am not in the market for this opportunity so take my thoughts with a grain of salt: Would you be interested in people staying for just a short time instead of living there? For example, vanlife people who wanted to park there for a week or two and then move on? There might be some who want to...

Re: does anybody here use a cargo bike?

but one has to be judicious with the uses and abuses of lithium, cobalt, etc. there's a burley trailer with a single wheel and i'm wondering about a similar... constuction. One middle ground solution if someone wants an ebike and are OK with cobbling together a drivetrain is to use previously used ...

Re: The Road Goes on Forever--Sometimes in Circles

For what its worth, the activity you are describing can be called scrambling or 4th class climbing. Bouldering refers to a different type of climbing where you are never very far off the ground and don't ascend a mountain. Pointing this out not to be pedantic but because the terms you are using are ...

I’ll post a picture of the box when it’s done ... if I can figure out how to upload pics here! On iPad anyway, doesn’t allow copy / paste.
You have to post the pics somewhere else and then link to them. I use imgur but there are lots of photo sharing sites.

May 2021 A good month for finances. Passed $450,000 in FIRE assets. Relatively low spending. Made a little unexpected money for helping someone with a project. Savings rate around 55%, SWR around 5%. Doing some personal development. Word of the year is "focus." Trying to follow The ONE Th...

If you don't mind saying, what is a typical cycle? Made up example: up one week, down three weeks, neither eight weeks.

Some ideas, random order: - Get the back stronger. - Move the stem up the steerer tube if there are spacers above it to displace. - Flip the stem if it is angled down. - Buy a stem that is shorter and/or angled up more - Bars with less drop (affects drop position only) - A different frame or bike if...

Re: 7Wannabe5- Take 7- The Money Dimple

You've already got some strong selling points with free housing, etc. Why include equity if you don't have to? It also seems like it would complicate things. A temporary casual arrangement turns into a permanent business deal. Maybe I am misunderstanding.

I’ve found my resting heart rate is 185.
Have you seen a doctor for this? 185 is typical of an intense anaerobic workout, not a reasonable resting heart rate.

Honest question, not attacking at all: are you happy with this lifestyle? It must have ups and downs. It is definitely a great experiment and I'm sure you are experiencing another an aspect of life that is inaccessible working for pay.

Seems like the jb weld should work well. Brazing is another way to fill holes and is often used on gas tanks but I'm not sure if that works on aluminum and you'd have to remove all the plastic and fabric. Does your swap meet have one of those guys selling brazing rods that you apply with a torch to ...

@lemur If the compost was still "hot" that could also cause problems. @white belt I know nothing about hugelkulture. Some books say not to use wood chips as mulch in a garden because as it decomposes it will compete with the plants for nutrients. Why then is it beneficial to bury wood in h...
