That all may be true, and may come to pass. I don't pretend to know. I'll just keep buying.

Re: Noob Investor Asks Noob Questions for the 10,000th time
I started investing seriously (i.e. more than a few hundred dollars a month) in 2014. A lot of people were saying a crash was right around the corner, stay away from equities, etc. I read jlcollinsnh, a lot on here, and a book on asset allocation, and just started plugging away. Currently 27% of my ...

I bought the rental in 2016. If you had bought leveraged real estate for income in 2004, 2005, 2006, what would have been the best use of your other funds? Hint- not stocks..... I disagree, it would have been stocks. https://www.schroders.com/en/insights/economics/14-years-of-investment-returns-his...

I've visited PR twice, once on vacation and once for business. I enjoyed the experience thoroughly, and look forward to going back. However, it's nowhere near as cheap COL as other islands in the area due to US cabotage laws.

Re: Bulking up healthy but innexpensively
Seriously. You should be buying eggs in bulk. If you're really serious start with a half dozen per day and work up to a dozen. Also, I see next to no fat in that diet plan. If you're a hard-gainer you need to get a minimum of 15-20% of your calories from fat. I personally would shoot higher, someth...

Re: Clinton Coverup Queen
A 3rd party candidate (especially Gary Johnson, as a more conservative one) doesn't need to get 270 electoral votes to prevent a Trump/Hillary presidency. They only need to win enough votes to ensure neither Trump or Hillary get 270. Simply put, if nobody gets to 270 electoral votes, it comes down t...

Re: The slow death of cash
I don't see this happening in the US anytime in the near future for two reasons: 1) It would destroy the homeless population's ability to interact with the normal world in a substantial manner. Unless Bernie is elected and we get a basic income and universal ID cards cash is just too important to a ...

Re: Tips for fasting
I started using the "eating window" method frequently referred to as Intermittent Fasting (IF), where you narrow down the amount of time where you're "on" and "off" of eating. It's very easy to get into a 16 hour fast daily this way. If you google IF you can get a lot o...

Re: Fasting Can Regenerate Your Immune System
He was not suggesting it would cure someone who had just been diagnosed with cancer. Though, he did outline what he would do if he was diagnosed with cancer, and fasting of various types was included. He reasons that because glucose is the main fuel for cancer that cutting it off would help your bo...

Re: Warrior Diet and concentration/focus.
In my experience snacking on low-cal foods will only make you hungry. I trend toward IF with and eating window more than Warrior Diet, but I notice it's much easier to not think about food until your meal if you just avoid it all together.

Bought a few JAN 2017 TWTR 60.00 Calls. I think the call side is depressed due to all the M&A talk, but I don't see that happening. I really don't understand why analysts are so down on it, it's the only social media that EVERYONE I know uses.

Shoes are the tough one. I go to Savers/Goodwill at least once a month to browse and have found 1 pair in the last two years that were my size/style, but getting shirts, pants, and ties there is no problem. You can get a suit jacket/blazer if you're lucky, but I went and got a blazer off the clearan...

Re: College Junior: Re-assessing my post-college career from Geology to financial consulting?
One thing I've done that helps to gauge decisions like this is to go find the most common certification for that career path and take a practice exam to see if you 1) actually have an understanding of what you'll be asked to do/know and 2) are interested in learning the stuff on the test that you do...

I think the infatuation with "beating the market" is self-defeating. “The best way to measure your investing success is not by whether you’re beating the market but by whether you’ve put in place a financial plan and a behavioural discipline that are likely to get you where you want to go....
