Re: Method to minamize yard work

I'm sure you know about robotic lawnmowers. They have become quite popular here from what I see during my walks. I have no personal experience with them though, so not sure how well they work and of course the cost dough.

Re: Poll: What kind of watch do you own?

Casio G-Shock watches. I use those for more things than I would have expected. (making tea, roasting coffee, boiling eggs, exercise time tracking, meditation timing, etc...) I also wear a G-Shock,I didn't use a watch for years but when I started working at the rigs I had to. Because you are not all...

Re: liberty's liberty journal

Hi there liberty! Exited to hear about your traveling plans. I will follow your journal and adventures for sure. Part of me wants to quit this autumn as well and spend the winter months in India. But I'm scared, afraid to loose the good deal I've got in the North Sea currently. I can't see myself ev...

Re: Thought I'd ask some advice.

I agree with Seppia that if you need to cheer up I would avoid Russia, actually all northern countries where the lack in sunshine for half of the year not exactly makes us cheerful, nor easy to befriend. Have you thought about Australia? New Zeeland? I know there used to be a work abroad program for...

@2B1S
Meb Faber has some white papers on asset allocations. Perfect "work" reading not too academic either. Gives a good overview.

Re: C40 & 7W, Relationship Book suggestions?

@frihet, omg lol, sometimes it seems like just having a conversation with the opposite sex has become something that requires black magic. :P Ha ha I agree, but sometimes "magic" if it's magic to unleash your inherent potential is what's needed to break through our conditioning. I agree that "Way o...

Re: C40 & 7W, Relationship Book suggestions?

True to my tradition of dropping unasked for spiritual tidbits. Here is another one, a bit dangerous, but extremely practical and mechanical. You don't need to believe anything just be able to apply muscular tension at certain spots, hold your breath and endure discomfort. It is my personal experien...

Re: Frihet / Freedom - Journal

I don't feel like writing a report. But in the interest of documenting my journey, I'll do it anyway. A month with a lot of work 2 trips and 3 weeks on the sea. So finally had some extra income. We also got our yearly bonus. Although a small one. Still going back and forth on when to quit. Money on ...

Re: NZ Shooter used the term overton window in manifesto

@7Wannabe5 That might be the case. i don't have all the facts. But regardless of their age, young males, especially unemployed ones are the ones creating problems in any society. So it can't be a good idea to bring in large numbers of poorly educated ones from war-torn countries and expect that it w...

Re: NZ Shooter used the term overton window in manifesto

I understand that this is a charged topic. So I first want to thank everyone for a civil debate. Some may think that it has nothing to do with ERE but personal security comes before personal finance any day the way I see it. Not being interested in getting in the way of problems created far above my...

I am super lucky and grateful to have her as my partner! but she also happens to be frugal and values freedom as much as I do. That's amazing, congratulations Waldo! I guess this is what happens when you break out of your comfort zone. Traveling can be so great for this in my experience also. You s...

Interesting to read of a Swede with meditative Indian propensities and a traditional libertarian investment strategy working on Scandinavian oil rigs. Mister Imperceptible Thanks for commenting!. Re: Portfolio Charts

Recieved this article in Jesse Felders weekly email that I think makes a good point. For most people a portfolio that they can sleep with and thereby actually compound makes much more sense than aggressive allocations. This Bloomberg article suggests 35% stock 65% bonds. But as Tyler's site and char...

Re: Slightly Unhinged Investing Thoughts at the Corner of the Corner of Dr. Fisker’s Mountain

Gentlemen, I don't believe the facts suggest that the world need to go under for gold to be a productive asset in your portfolio. Gold is simply an uncorrelated part of a whole. It is also of course insurance against turmoil, but as you mentioned it's best if that turmoil remains contained by societ...

Re: Lesser Known Crops of the World Resources

Thank you Campitor. I have seen the link on regrassing desert by grazing cattle. Intuitively it makes sense. After all the plains of the US for example was historically filled with Bison. Grass and grass eater in a symbiotic relationship. Even here in Sweden traditionally the amount of fields plante...

Reached out to BigERN/Karsten of earlyretirementnow who used to work in finance following hundreds of indicators. See his blog post below of what he sees as the 3 most important. https://earlyretirementnow.com/2018/02/21/market-timing-and-risk-management-part-1-macroeconomics/ His take was that it's...

Civilian Unemployment Rate (UNRATE) breaks its 12 month moving avarage

I use a simple trend following approach on my GB/IVY portfolio. To avoid market noise it switches on/off trend following on the equity portion by calculating the 12-month moving average on UNRATE. Today we got a clear signal that the trend line is broken from below which historically has been a forw...
