I came back to these forums after a long time to update my journal and one of the first thread's I looked for was Brute's (aka the rockstar of ERE).
+1 to @Mister Imperceptible's post.

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
Hello all, Back here after 3 years. I wanted to make a long pending update to this thread. I visit this thread frequently to see where I have come from as these updates are few and in between. This thread is more of a macro summary of the years while I do have an online Journal to pen my daily thoug...

Re: Playing with fire docu
Watched it today. It's a documentary I would recommend to friends who don't shy away when I mention 50% savings rate. If they then come back with questions and curiosity, I would describe the finer points of the process. This and the Pete Adeney's WDM talk are really good way to test the wheaton lev...

Re: Investments Trade Log
Not sure I understand the bullish sentiment here....S&P 500 is now at beginning 2019 levels with the recent run-up. The FED announced its stimulus literally at the same time of the jobs reports....Q2 / Q3 earnings reports are going to be devastating. We're just getting started with this Bear ma...

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
@Sky - Thanks! I worked in financial services for a large US Investment Bank. @Wolf - Thank you! As 2birds1stone mentioned I had reached FI more than a year ago and I was in a one more year syndrome mode for a while. So the extra stash should help negate the sequence of returns risk to an extent. Af...

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
Alright, I did not make it to Germany as continuing in my field of work started to feel like a drag. So I put in my resignation earlier this month and Tuesday (31st march ) is my last day! Despite seeing my investments getting hammered in the last few days I am still getting out feeling good as I wa...

Re: ERE shaming
For some reason I am rereading this thread and as I have been thinking about making a thread about shame/guilt as social control I post here instead. What is the real problem? That people have opinions, no, that will always be the case. That we need to give them a conversational out so they can liv...

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
@wolf I am in financial services sector and looking to go to Berlin as I understand its more relaxed compared to Munich and Frankfurt. My research also suggests rents are going to be a challenge. I intend to start with a room share arrangement to buy time before scouting out for an independent apart...

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
I will try to answer your question and add some updates as well. I continue to work at my reg day job. If I do this for 2 years then I approximately will have 4+ years of living expenses after I stop . All this while my invested capital in the market remains untouched. In 6 years I expect the corpus...

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
I did it sooner than I expected! I am now FI! Took me 8 years and I did it only because I stumbled on Jacob's blog in mid 2010, later bought his book, read it end to end and imbibed some of the philosophies. A BIG thank you Jacob - soul savior! :D And thanks to all the amazing people on these forums...

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
@liberate mind... I have a fully paid house, a piece of land in India. All my savings are in equity mutual funds and I expect to make 10% yearly returns. I expect inflation to be at 6%. Not too concerned at the inflation numbers as I do not intend to use investment returns, they will get reinvested ...

Re: Hi from Denmark
My experience is that you avoid those blank stares if you enthusiastically tell what you would prefer to do with your time (ie great exciting stuff) - instead of telling what you do not like (ie work). Well put. This is the reason I don't discuss FI and ERE even with some of the closest people arou...

Re: Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
Thanks, I do think luck has been on my side. Did Patagonia (Bariloche) earlier this month and it was stunning. In this new country, my savings rate has been 50% until now which will most likely move upwards of 60% in the coming months. @Eureka - I don't think I will quit once I'm FI .I will be takin...

Hello All... resuming this thread after a long time. I moved from US to Argentina on a 2 yr assignment. During the 2.5 yr stay in the US I managed to save about half of the FI target. My spouse also found work in Buenos Aires ,so I am set to retire in 2 years. I will also be doing some traveling in ...

Work assignment in Delaware - chance to fast track ere
I`m moving to Newark Delaware this month on work for a couple of years. I`m from India and ERE wise it makes huge sense to save up on the dollars while I am in the US. Simply put I`m bloody excited ;) cos currency conversion will result in 3 -4 times my Indian salary savings rate! I`m travelling wit...
