Re: Hello from Norway

I have lived in Bulgria for the last 5.5 years and for 1000 euro's a month, you can live very well in a big city (more expensive) and even better outside of the cities. For 3/400 euro's month you can rent a nice 1 bedroom apartment and perhaps for 700/800 euro's a month in total you would be finishe...

Re: Pemulis' journal

About a degree: I'm a university computer science dropout. And somehow there is always a nagging feeling of not having completed it. Perhaps it is something for the future, when I'm ERE. But on a practical level. I keep in touch with some of my old classmates and what I see is: - even before I left ...

Re: How has your net worth changed since finding this site?

I joined at the beginning of the 2013 and had 70k euro's (excluding my pension). Currently I'm at 91k. So that is a 30% increase. At the end of next month it should be 105/110k since there is quite some money pending, so that would be a 50% increase. Going through the first 100k really feels like a ...

Re: Hello from Bulgaria

The bulgarian property market is a strange one :) Often prices are unrealistic. Differences between prices are huge! If you go to the center of Bulgaria, you can also find amazing houses.. but for half the price. check this: http://www.bulgarianproperties.com/Search/index.php?stip=0&stop=0&s...

Re: Hello from Germany!

Germany has a progressive tax system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_Germany No income tax is charged on the basic allowance, which is €8,004 for unmarried persons and €16,008 for jointly assessed married couples. Beyond this threshold, the marginal tax rate increases linearly from 14% to ...

Re: Hello from Bulgaria

@secretwelth Since 2008 the prices have gone down considerably. It also depends what you want and how close you want to be to the cost. You can get real palaces here fit for a king. But you can also get much more modest property. So how much do you want to spend and where should it be located :) Che...

Re: Hello from Bulgaria

@youngandwise It really depends on where you live; the difference between city and countryside is very big. Also there are big differences between area's. I must honestly say that I'm not an extreme social person, so I'm not that interested in humankind. What I do see is that there is a lot of pover...

Re: Hello from Bulgaria

Hey fellow Dutch person, Recently I met someone from Bulgaria who is now trying to build a life here in the Netherlands. Funny you did it the other way around. (But of course also logical, that Bulgarian person can get a better job and better pay here, sending 10% of his pay back home to his parent...

Re: Hello from Bulgaria

An update from my side. Work: I'm going to switch companies in a few weeks. The new company will be a lot closer to the things I like to do, so that is a big step forward. Our costs of living will increase because we need to rent a place (currently we live for free). We need to live in a different c...

Re: DutchGirl's journal

It is very annoying if you are forced to spend money on something because you are supposed to. It feels very uncontrollable.. if you don't give you are considered cheap and there will be a lot of fuss.. if you do give.. you feel steeling from yourself and failing to meet your own expectations. I'm s...

Personally I found it a bit of a disappointment.
These books I read before I read 'The Richest Man...' so there was not a lot of new info:

- Your Money or Your Life

- ERE

- Millionaire next door

But.. how come your savings rate is negative? With a negative savings rate it will be a little bit more complicated to retire.
