Re: On deleting journals, posts, and accounts

@Seppia I thought this one might justify a better explanation than my cryptic response. Right now, in this country, just to start, hundreds are facing possibly lengthy prison sentences for their role in the insurrection on 1/6. That is before the newly created commission that will pour resources int...

@seppia
Go back and reread post #1 from zero. I don't think this is one that can be talked through.

Re: Anyone make their own yogurt?

I've made raw milk yogurt in several locations successfully, except where I am now. There is too much wild yeast. It ruins everything. I just gave up. I'm not going to bother making pasteurized yogurt. Btw, one location I could get really fresh full fat milk right off the farm. The top two or three ...

Re: Stoa Presentation: A Systems Approach To Resilient Lifestyle Design

I'm watching it and thinking that it would be good to have one slide for each row of the Wheaton levels, blown up to fill the slide. 1. It would be readable. 2. It would force you to talk about each level in a bit more detail. I think you know stuff so well its as obvious as the sun in the sky, but ...

@Jacob
Green onions can be self renewing all winter. Just leave the roots intact and stick in a cup. Also, they are pretty.

Re: Stoa Presentation: A Systems Approach To Resilient Lifestyle Design

The simplest thing you can do to improve the light situation is to turn so you are facing the light, aka the window and move your desk closer. If you can do this during the day, that is cheap and easy. Throw a thin white sheet over the window (temporarily mount) if if the light is too direct. I've d...

Re: On deleting journals, posts, and accounts

Yes, it is sad about all the content that is gone.

I think the more it was talked about, the more the deleting happened. The last bit did seem like that panicked end of a bull market.

Re: DutchGirl's journal

Glad to hear things are going well. My mom had a saying regarding work and the was 'everyone is replaceable.' She didn't mean it in the way you might think - it was more like, don't take on unnecessary ownership of a place, problem, whatever, because someone else can deal with it just as well. Or we...

@Alphaville - If I spend an hour or two answering a question This seems like a good switch. You could write those independent answers/essays elsewhere and place a link in any thread. If the thread goes poof, oh well. I do think it is sort of funny how people are worried now. 2016 was rough for me p...

Re: jacob interviewed on the madFIentist podcast

I have a blue yeti I use for dictation for writing. I use the desk stand, aka the bolts on the side. It came with the mic. You also need some plastic disks that are on the mic on the inside of the stand that help the round mic fit inside the straight metal pieces. Frankly I like the stand - it's com...

@CS Would there not though be a collective benefit, as they are less likely to clog up hospitals (in every sense of the term) ? I think I'm running out of patience, lol. You're right. I'm crabby about having to get a shot after people who are at risk because of their own choices. @UK-with-kids That...

I really don't agree with people with high BMIs cutting the line. Nope. They should go by age and other non-changeable aspects. If you're an overweight adult, well, the solution is right there. I've seen too many of my coworkers get hurt in health care just getting these people on and off the table.

Re: COVID topic vol 2

Are 60% of frontline healthcare workers evil? Are they stupid? Brainwashed by social media? Selfish? Uncaring? I've worked in Ohio as a healthcare worker for several years. This action says nothing about the vaccine but rather the (in my opinion) psychotic state of things in Ohio. I think they shou...
