We can keep trying to read his mind. That doesn't always work ;) . Why not strike up a conversation with the guy?He will probably mention doing the deed on his own.

Re: Digital Minimalism?

I think a Pareto principle analysis would be useful. What 20% of what you are doing online is most harmful? What 20% is most beneficial?

Have you considered other outlets for your ambition? Maybe writing. You are a prolific writer here.

If you are trying for a better posture try this: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=exercises+for+posture How often should you work out? Well, that depends on how long it takes you to recover. If you arent recovered after one day of rest then you need 2 days. Should you split up the muscle...

Re: Health modeling

I'm curious if anyone has ever estimated how much of their self-reliance can be completed with one arm, or I actually broke a bone in my right hand about 3 years ago. It didn't slow me down too much as far as self reliance. The main problems it caused me were writing and using a mouse. Some time sp...

Re: What is the most useful journaling exercise?

Well I usually try to tie it to another event to act as a trigger. It's not always possible, but it's a built-in reminder to do it when you can. It wouldn't be a place for say: stop facebook addiction, start running a mile a day, start applying for work, start renovation. Those type of things requir...

Re: Dealing with anger in the face of everyday evil

@Bankai 100% agree. Inaction won't help you feel better either. It's like the serenity prayer. God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. If you don't change what you can you will feel bad about yourself. If...

Re: What is the most useful journaling exercise?

I don't know if you would call it journaling but I sometimes make a list of 5 things to start doing and 5 things to stop doing. It seems to work for most small things. Less well with big items. It's still worth doing in my opinion.

Of course written goals are a good exercise too.

Re: Dealing with anger in the face of everyday evil

I think that you need an information diet. It's not good for your sanity to dwell on what is outside of your locus of control. The world will end in eternal summer or nuclear winter or skynet will kill us with terminators. The apocalypse is always at the door. It's been predicted for thousands of ye...

The chicken eggs from the store are not fertilized. They will not hatch. They are bird ovulations not baby birds. This is known because they keep the males separate from the females. You don't know that when it comes to pigeon eggs.

@Qazwer

That's fair if you spend all of your time working you can't do much else, but access to books historically has been difficult without money. That's not really the case now.

Re: Street Smart / Book Smart

Is it true that acquiring book smarts is something of a luxury and requires good times? This is the information age. Becoming book smart requires time but almost no money. You only have to look at third-world countries to see poor people can be book smart. True college is expensive but not the only...

Re: Street Smart / Book Smart

Any type of smarts needs smarts. Some people who aren't book smart like to believe that they are street smart. It's usually just a fantasy. Street smart people are aware of how others act and react. They have reasoning skills but apply them to everyday life. They see little value in information that...

Ideology is an image of reality constructed by humans which intends to explain the physical reality, often in moral terms. It often provides a framework for humans to decide whether an action is considered positive or negative. There is a competing theory that ideologies are simply social construct...
