I’m actually more curious what the world looks like if/when we hit that point of steady state or population decline. Unfortunately, will probably not be around to see it.
Be careful what you wish for. There are several reasons for population decline and not all are benign.

Re: Mental health consequences of ERE

I'd say the biggest risks to mental health with ere are:
1 loneliness, because you don't have the built-in social group at work you have to do other things to get social contact
2 drugs/alcohol It is possible to start the morning with the hair of the dog when you don't have to be to work later

I think it is more fundamental and difficult than you realize. Have you heard of Price's Law or Pareto Distribution?

Do you want to live in the city, a small town, or a truly rural place? I'm a small town boy, but to each their own.

Re: How is ERE pronouced?

I think we need to cultivate some exclusivity by using the French sounding pronunciation. Sounds like Hooray without the H or the hip-hip proceeding it. I'm glad someone gets that this thread is meant to be at least a little bit funny. The thought of someone trying to say ere without the e still cr...

How is ERE pronouced?

Is it eerie as in strange or frightening? Is the last E silent as is customary? Do you say each of the letters?

European Natural Gas Shortage of 2022?

Are any of you in Europe personally doing anything extra to prepare? If so I am curious as to what.

Do any of you have any insights into the economic ramifications?

Re: Is reading a waste of time?

You aren't wrong. There are too many books that would make good essays. One particular pet peeve of mine is when the author bloviates about why the subject is important. Why do they think I'm reading it in the first place? Still, the knowledge and personal growth gained through reading constantly ou...

Another Brick in the Wall
I like the Pink Floyd reference, though, it is an interesting one for a teacher to make.

Re: Improving Handwriting

;) Kind of, about 5 years ago I broke the third metacarpal in my right hand. So I was left-handed for a while and my handwriting was completely illegible at first. I got an adult coloring book and colored while watching Youtube. It helped. Stylistically my handwriting still needs work.

Re: Need your zucchini recipes

Light a charcoal grill or firepit. Slice zucchini. Put on some salt and mix. Wrap in aluminum foil with a small pad of butter. When the fire has reduced to coals or the charcoal turns mostly white, toss it directly on the coals. After an hour remove with tongs. Enjoy.

What is meant by "shares of housing". Is it like the Polish version of REITs or some sort of small business with a consortium of owners?

Re: EREers who invest actively, what tools do you use in your analysis?

So, that is a broad question. I'll keep short-term trading and options out of it for now and focus on long-term investing. There are 5000+ stocks out there and I can't analyze them all. Also, SEC filings are time-consuming. So, I want to generate leads to stocks that might fit what I want, quickly w...
