Re: Thinking about pre-paying home loan. Good? Bad? Thought

This is all good advice, and I can see how it is a very personal opinion. In my situation, if I Paid it off I still have access to cash if need be via business accounts, savings, and a small nest egg that is slowly building in my safe... I already max out my tax deferred accounts and fully fun a ROT...

Re: Thinking about pre-paying home loan. Good? Bad? Thought

That is always an option, to maintain the HELOC just in case. I have about 13K in savings account, and business account is funded if it ever got DIRE. I just am really drawn to the idea of being 100% personal debt free. I know I would make more with out paying it off, but seems so far away. And With...

Re: Thinking about pre-paying home loan. Good? Bad? Thought

I have averaged 26% this year, not too surprising since the market has been doing well. And the math tells me not to pay it off. But i have three things that I am working with. 1. (not my plan but it's there) My mother is very well off, and eventually she will be gone (something she reminds me of al...

Thinking about pre-paying home loan. Good? Bad? Thoughts?

Hey guys, It's been a while since I've posted. I will update my journal later but here is my dilemma. I am currently working on a big project, and expensive one. But it's under business Tax ID, so I keep them separate. Over the past 23 Months I have Paid off Wife's student Debt - $12,439 Wife's Car ...

Re: Decided to sell truck/motorcycle to pay off debt.....

Wow, I just saw this and it was a flash back. I ended up selling that truck and paying off all of my wives student debt. Great feeling. I bought a cheap $500 jeep that was great. I had to put some work into it, and was at a total of $1400 when I got rear ended. Their insurance company cut me a check...

Re: How Will You Celebrate Achieving ERE / FI?

The day I realize, I have enough to survive the rest of my life, I have savings, college paid for kids, a paid off house....I'm going to sleep in. I'm going to sit in my yard, take the sun....and then what ever I want.

Re: Five years... Wait, how long??

Five years does feel like a very long time. I have found myself over the past few weeks getting off track, and even more disgusted with my job. I used to travel a lot which I loathed, but the experience was fun for a while and the money was great. Now I took a pay cut, don't have to travel, but get ...

Re: Income property

@johnny H....slum lord is the way to go, don't hate me just yet. But I have houses that I bought very cheap, cleaned up and fixed to a safe level, and city subsidized rent is more then you can collect in a nice house in a decent area. But there is WORK involved, and programs expire, run out, or peop...

Re: My Goals for my 31st year on planet earth..

Ok, well today was the day. I paid off my home equity line of credit....it's zero! It took me 7/8 months but that $24,000 cloud over my head is gone. It's an odd feeling, for the past 5 years I've always had an outstanding debt there. And I've always paid something towards it. Today was the last day...
