I bought at $290 several years ago, and I do not care about the noise day to day. I know apply will use its 150 billion cash hoard to buy back stock and issue dividends. Dividends have been increasing a lot each year too.

hmm may I ask why you want to invest in commodity indexes? You may want to reconsider, maybe check out a gold or silver and call it a day to hedge against inflation.
