Re: ADHD meds

The flip side of the argument is the trend towards pathologizing [objective] traits that are outside the cultural mainstream One author approaches this as having different models of disability. IE - pathological vs. social vs. environmental. Their book talks extensively about problems with a pathol...

Re: ADHD meds

Maybe worth noting - a diagnosis is based upon a collection of traits. Within each trait, there is a spectrum of symptoms and support needs. That pattern is fractal, with each trait consisting of sub-traits. Often, people will discuss their condition as though it is binary, or even on a single spect...

Re: ADHD meds

If the medicine provides needed support, I don't think cost is a good reason to reduce dosage. Is there a tolerance concern? If daily use leads to continually escalating dosages, I might explore feasibility of a need based strategy, like DutchGirl describes. I don't have ADHD or any expertise on the...

Re: Subsidized Internet - $30 off per month

So the ACP program is ending. My ISP sent notice. And suddenly, they also had a $10 per month plan for me. 60 down, 12 up. Because I already had ACP, I didn't have to do anything special to qualify for it. Just call. No mention of a termination fee for the prior contract either. The once sacrifice? ...

Re: ADHD meds

Can you get drug via a GoodRx coupon or other Rx discount program?

Is there a higher dosage pill you can split?

Does a higher quantity Rx reduce the cost?

Often, drugs can cost more with insurance.

That's a strong endorsement of externalizing to the tracker. Thanks. I've recently learned the word Interoception, and that mine might be impaired: Interoception is the collection of senses providing information to the organism about the internal state of the body https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inter...

Appreciate it @Dave. Doctor says I'm lucky my foot didn't already break, so unless I get surgery, impact based activity is off the table. Still negotiating with her around walking, rucking, etc.

Re: Veronica's Journal of Madness

So my daily goal is to meet or exceed my fitness trackers suggested strain target. For longevity sake, I will focus the bulk of this at 60-69% max heart rate, but I won't get too upset if I drift a bit. I plan to do this for about 100 days and assess if this is getting me where I want to be. If not...

Re: ffj's Early Retirement (round 2)

Great to see the pictures with your posts. Job applications are a weird thing. Often a high caliber person simply has less experience with the process, and so gets passed over for a much less qualified applicant. From what I've seen here, that's most likely the problem. I'm sure whoever figures out ...

Thanks for continuing with the updates. I continue to be impressed at the sheer volume and diversity of work. You're playing beyond where I even aspire to, but it's a great window into what is possible. While I'm sure it doesn't feel this way, to an external observer - you've made the transition see...

Glad to see an update from you @shaz. Sorry to hear of the health issues and your cat passing. Some animals stand out as special. We're lucky to have the time. Congrats on hitting the savings target. It may feel anti-climatic, but that's a major life accomplishment. 100% remote can quickly grow into...

If you walked me to that bus stop, and said "just trust me bro", I'd call you a liar the entire time. Incredible the public transit is available. I wanted to commend you on making space for the transition between skillathon and side hustle. I know you put a ton of effort into planning the ...

Every time I do the math, I get very calm like “oh yeah we’re gonna be just fine”. And then 2 days later I’m nervous about buying organic vegetables because it will cost me $3 extra this week. Idk, maybe I’m just built cheap. ... I’m considering paying off the house. Every calf in existence tells m...

I enjoy the updates as well. I think the super lean FIRE to Work to FIRE path will prove a common pattern. It's good to see how you manage the transition into higher consumption slow travel.

I wonder if Instacart delivery from Aldi could help with food costs. When I was high earning, that was our grocery hack. Even after the delivery premium, it was cheaper than whole foods. And we could skip going to the store. No perspective on the sister problem, other than it must be incredibly frus...

It's been interesting to see your experience with the Oura ring. I've often considered one. Are you familiar with the term Orthorexia? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthorexia_nervosa Applying strict food standards to your elderly father with dementia could approach that territory. With that said - ...
