Re: DTL's Journal

I am happy to say I would be FI if I kept my spending at my 2014 levels. :) Lifestyle inflation has followed me through the last 10 years but I’ve been able to still live below my means. It was the simple ‘VTSAX and chill’ method, nothing special. I’m probably 7 years out with my current spending ...

Re: DTL journal : 26 yo grad student

Yeah, this little town is where I plan on going to grad school.

I actually lived in a small village in the east coast, Chantaburi province. Chiang Mai would be perfect city to stay for a bit but apparently the air quality gets really bad during certain seasons because the surrounding areas burn ...

Peace corps volunteer. I feel like I'm already retired, going back into the 'real' world is going to be hard. I actually found ERE because I was looking for info on how to deal with retirement. All the free time with no set schedule. That was driving me crazy in the beginning.

<t>>My plan is to start the professional 'career' (I really dislike that word) I'm qualified in and work there for 2-3 years, aiming to save up about 10 years of expenditure. During that time I'm going to try out small, low maintenance businesses which I could potentially live off. If they work out ...

<r>>short term: time or money. The law of compounding interest suggests that longer hours now will pay off more in the long term<br/>
That’s why I was deciding to go back to Cali and start working sooner rather than later. Before I found ERE, I was going to take the long way home (tran-siberian to ...
