Re: Overdiagnosed

As for the OP book: Yes, it discusses all the points made above in great detail including asymmetric career risk for providers, the risk of anxiety and the diseases that could follow from that, as well as several more points. In my opinion, the book is worth reading even for those who aren't ...

I’m starting from the basics with oil painting. Using 3 colors to be able to make the temperature shifts in the light.
The picture below is a 2 hour evening session after work.

I’m still eating about 90% Dr. Greger-style.

What a great painting! I love it. The restrictions to only three ...

In terms of "stoke", Schopenhauer famously said that "A man can do what he wants, but he can not want what he want".

So lets try with: A man can do what he wants once he's FI after which he may find wants he didn't know he wanted before.

Schopenhauer's quote/puzzle is a hindrance for real ...

There's no or very few bike-trails found in Europe. People would consider them pointless.
Mbt-bikers in the Netherlans and in Austria use long used hiker-paths to ride on. Very unpleasant for hikers. Bikers are even complaining: there are too many hikers. An inversion/stealing of use!

We miss the dunes that we got used to on the east coast of Scotland some years back. If you could point us some nice dunes this summer that would be great!

We will certainly do.

Re: J_ whistling (?) through life

A lot happened since my last journal entry.

DIY: kerosine heater in my boat did not function. I had to take out the heater (difficult: narrow space). Dismantle the heater, renew the filament (glow-spiral) and build the heater in again with all the wiring and fuel tubes; 3 days work!
Repair a ...

Good to see and hear you again Jean. I could not understand all but it is an impressive introduction to your “province” and to your familiarity with it. Thanks!

Thanks for posting.
It is a good anti-dote to the happenings in some parts of the (ruling) world.
The crux for me is: what can I do?

Wish you all the best with your attempt to resolve your backpain issue.
Perhaps it is best to use the coming beautiful season in freedom ( as you sure can) instead of a not fulfilling job.

When I'm actually on the road, I often get stressed, sleep poorly, and my muscles hurt from sleeping in a tent night after night. After two weeks, I start to miss my day-to-day habits like drawing, sports, cycling, and other routines. I'm thinking of doing a 'retirement test' sometime by having a ...

The doctor and the teacher both have professions that may not only have been theirs for the money, but also because they put their heart and soul in it. I can understand it may be harder to say goodbye to such professions..
So hopefully your two boat mates will find their way in this. Maybe you ...

It's good to take your mind off things and just go out and enjoy nature and the weather. That really helps.

I wonder if there is anyone whose life improved after suing their neighbors. It sounds like the judges will continue to inflict pain on both of you until you sort it out.

Thank you ...

Re: J_ whistling (?) through life

Before we left for the Netherlands we have spring-cleaned the apartment in the Alps and did a round of diminishing stuff. We also stocked groceries up. As we come again we have enough to eat for weeks. So it can function as a back-up place. Long ago we had a marriage-struggle and one of us went here ...

Re: Frugal chicos journal - ERE in The Basque Country

To me there is no "backslide to wheaton level 3" as 2B1S judges the way Frugalchicos has chosen at the moment of re-immigration to Spain.
A higher wheaton level is not (always) better than a lower level. There are so many more relevant things to consider in life. And feeling more safe in a constant ...

Living in three (or more) European countries every year. Our little motorboat will be sold then. No car (anymore).

Rowing in our dutch rowing-club on waters near our home, sometimes kayaking. Swimming, walking and cycling. In winter snowshoe walking and, if condition is ok, xc skiing. Member of ...
