Re: Bodyweight exercises

Just thought I would add this as a resource: http://www.startbodyweight.com/ I've found it very useful, it includes a full body basic bodyweight routine, and progressions for a lot of common exercises. Thanks that's a really useful blog. @guiterplayer - you've lost me in all that algebra! I just gr...

Re: AstraZeneca vaccine

The risk, if it even exists, is so small that it's just not worth worrying about. You're far more likely to die from covid (or be hit by a car) even as a healthy 40 year old. If it reassures you, I'm under 40 and had the astra-zeneca as did many of my colleagues who were younger. Aside from a day or...

Or move somewhere where we can buy into the state system i.e. CostaRica.
Yes I was thinking the $18000 health care bill could paradoxically be seen as a huge safety margin, in as much as to how willing you would be to move somewhere with cheaper healthcare if you needed to.

Re: Examining Inflation

I don't recall the figure but a huge number of ships have apparently been scrapped during covid, as they were worth more as scrap metal than just sitting empty in a dock costing mooring fees for shipping companies, as global trade dropped. Often newish ships with years of life left in them. It will ...

Re: m741's ERE Journal

Suggestions would be appreciated, of course. Maybe you could you start remote working from abroad and maybe try living in a few countries for while, or take a sabbatical and travel and see which ones you like ? Portugal is pretty great as a retirement destination or remote working; low COL, sunny, ...

ow, i hated that movie, i thought its meaning was "cgi tigers" Haha I did like it but I'm quite sentimental and I like all things ancient. His other films have never appealed to me, although I've not seen many of them to be fair. https://youtu.be/u-LsLd4RP5g Jordan Petersen is appar...

Re: Bodyweight exercises

So I'm now on the following: 3 X 10 half press ups (knees on ground) 3 X 30 seconds planks 3 X 10 Bridges 3 X 10 squats 3 X 10 doorframe pulls 3 times a week...I was doing 4 times but I found I needed more muscle recovery. Some of the gains I initially thought I had have disappeared, though I think ...

Another thing is that circular/saucer shaped aircraft have terrible aerodynamics and are almost impossible to make work, which is why they are never built (Ok not a problem in space)

Re: Not made for consuming ~ Bos journal

I stopped drawing and painting last year, because I just cannot find the energy for it. A method I've adopted is to commit to doing a tiny amount of something every day. I'm trying to write a story, and saying I'll write 5000 words this weekend never worked. So I just write a minimum of 20 words a ...

I'm a bit skeptical of all this, though I have seen UFOs twice. Well I saw things (with witnesses) in the sky which are hard to rationally explain.

Re: Can I retire with 4 children?

That does not sound like hogwash to me! I believe in it all, although I have not yet had any such intense spiritual experiences. Thing is though I don't want to loose my sense of 'I'. Indeed I think it's potentially a bit dangerous, leading to depersonalisation, especially if done outside a monastic...

@Alphaville :lol:

I didn't read the full article but it is funny how 'ancient wisdom' often has much more credibility in modern spirituality than modern wisdom. Ancient Roman emperors have more marketing appeal than a postgrad from Nuneaton Polytechnic.

Re: Can I retire with 4 children?

I think you can retire with a lot of safety margin, and I am actually a bit surprised by some of the cautious advice above (I don't mean that as a criticism of anyone, just an observation) However, maybe you could negotiate a sabbatical or period of unpaid leave to try out the lifestyle first and se...
