Re: Cheap Health Insurance for Pregnancy

I'm not trying to be a downer. I just think you have to add up all of the possible bills assuming a worst-case scenario if she's pregnant, and see which could be the most OOP at the end of the year. I understand I appreciate it! I just saw your second post. Our HDHP plan has two limits--the deducti...

Re: Cheap Health Insurance for Pregnancy

Hm, I seem to have miscommunicated. 1) Not pregnant yet. 2) Will have insurance of some type -> a) My work insurance ($395/mo, ~80% health coverage, no dental/vision) -> b) Independent health coverage --> --> 1) Since high deductible plans are a 'bad deal' if you plan to hit the deductible limit (es...

Cheap Health Insurance for Pregnancy

My wife and I are planning to have a kid in the next 12 months or so. Unfortunately, she found out today that she is not going to be eligible for health insurance through her job, and getting on my insurance would be very expensive for lame coverage. As such, we're looking into independent coverage....

<r>I had a guy give me a quote for a wooden fence (which was $1800 -- no thanks. I did keep the nice plans he drew up for me, though). Turns out he was an aerospace engineer, but he made more money building fences on the side, so he decided to do that full time. <URL url="http://justwoodenfences.com...

<t>I thought of this thread today. I work at a hospital. This morning, I was walking from the train to my office and saw a doctor getting into his car. It was an old beater, with a clearly replaced door. Probably a hold out from his residency days -- maybe even med school. Either way, I wanted to te...

<t>@Surio<br/> I went to a car dealership recently. I wanted to buy a car, but I didn't have enough money. <t>@Jacob<br/> I do think that there are better ways of providing compensation to content creators than simply "$X to enjoy my music/book/game". <t>I just finished watching the movie linked to by @Felix. In general, the movie was actually pretty anti-99%er. The final monologue makes the strong case for doing what you can where you can, rather than blaming the top of the pyramid. I quote:<br/> We can deal with the fish head, if we remember th...

I put in a request in the Saint Louis Public Library to pick up Jacob's book about 2 months ago. It finally came in today, and I was the first (only?) person on the wait list. Woot! Anyone else have success getting their library to stock the book?
