Assimili for French?

Any of you tried Assimili with good results? seems to end really good, emphasizing input rather than output.
I used it with polish and was then able to converse in polish.
My ex gf used it for norwegian with even better results.
I strongly recomend it.
But languages are like everything, if you don't use them, you lose them.
There is no point in learning french if you don't plan to use it, unless you're conducting some linguistic research.
