Try to look at things more optimistically: other people's profligacy with money provides an opportunity for savvy people, and it shouldn't affect your ability to relate to them in other ways - it's surprisingly independent of other personality trains (although maybe you'll have to avoid discussions of financial issues). It pains me to see people wasting money (even in fiction, I cringe a bit!), but they can still be interesting, intelligent people, and sometimes their very looseness and generosity can actually be a perk.

I'm glad I read your rants before they were deleted, there was good hate in them.
