New meetup! (south of Copenhagen):

Meetup will be July, 15 at 13.00 - location is approx. one hour south of Copenhagen (send PM for address).

Program is not fully planed but I think it would include:
* pension plans
* traveling

And since it's a summer edition this meetup will include a bbq

Somewhere @knap82 wrote about "a trip away from the normal everyday life" and somewhere else @badhorse wrote about needing a trip as "an escape" from xxx. But, hey, isn't it preferable to organize one's life so that there is no need for escapes or trips away from it? I see the point of travelling to something, if say you want to learn something and the teacher lives somewhere else, but away from your life or your home base in order to get away??

So be prepared to be challenged on this one by me, if 'traveling' stays on the agenda of our next meetup.

Anyway, looking forward a ton and hoping to meet a lot of old and new Danish ERE folks on 15 July!

No arguing there!!
The challenge is just how to go about it so that you can:
1) Be where you want
2) when you want
3) doing what you want
2) with the people you want to be with

Hi guys.. Great initiative that I'm reading about for the first time just now. Would have loved to join in but summer vacation plans are spoiling that party for me. And since "happy wife = happy life", then no quitting that in the 11th hour. Anyways, would have loved to join in. Next time is hopefully better for me

Inspiring presentations on travelling hacks by @rmb and entreprrneurship by @milton, a concise recap of systems thinking by @fbeyer and thoughts on pension by @badhorse. On top of great discussions by all and wonderful hosting and bbq by @wizards.

I feel sorry for those who missed it, but the good news is that there is already another meetup in the pipeline in September/October.

That next meetup will be on 30 September, in Copenhagen. If interested feel free to write here and we can take the practicalities as we get closer.

I would be interested in joining the meetup on 30 September, as I'm also from Copenhagen.
I'm new to this group and to the FIRE idea, although I have always been quite frugal in my living and due to my job as legal advisor has been able to save a decent amount already (but I have not yet begun investing them - apart from paying extra into my pension scheme). I saw the 2016 article in Berlinske about ERE, but have only recently read the book and started to follow a couple of FIRE bloggers.

Welcome! In spite of Jacob living in Chicago, I think Copenhagen now has the world's largest amount of ERE'ers per capita.
The next meetup should be quite an interesting one too. 'looking forward to meeting you.
