Health insurance question

I separated my shoulder. It's definitely a grade 3+ and may require surgery. I feel fortunate to have healthcare through the VA that is practically free. On that note I would also like to get a second opinion outside of the VA.

Ethics aside, if I were to buy an ACA plan and get surgery and then terminate the plan the following month are there any repercussions? Thanks, just trying to explore my options without buying an obamacare plan for the whole year.

Ouch. We had a crash in our cycling group a few weeks ago and one of the guys joined the separated shoulder club. Not fun. Sorry to hear it happened to you.

You might call a few orthopedic clinics in your area and ask if they offer a free initial consultation. That way you will know what you are up against. Often the cash price for a common surgery like that is less than the insurance deductible.

Not up on American plans but isn't that a pre existing condition? Or is that what's good about the recent changes?

From afar, it sounds problematic.
