I thought you specifically didn't like board games because you'd much rather spend your efforts on real life application? And why squad leader? Why not advanced squad leader, World In Flames or any other WWII game (of which there are very many and I believe SL might not even be one of the best) Why not 1830, 1889 or other 18xx?
The 18xx can be played by email/dropbox via a completely free client and the rules are available for free online, so they're totally free and presumably the world's best economic games.

Is there any sensible way to make the skill exchanges available in some digital format, like say youtube or similar media such that others could learn from it as well?

@Fbeyer - Because I happen to own that game already and I'm looking to amortize it, simple as that ...

In terms of skill exchange, I doubt I could do any better in terms of video than what's already available on youtube. The benefit IRL would be hands-on practice, the ability to ask questions, make mistakes, ... In the past, I've had people over and they've spent 4 hours planing a board to 50% of its raw size; and surprisingly enjoyed it. Sometimes it's easier to learn by doing than by reading or watching. Of course I could record it anyway in case it helps. Time to launch an ERE youtube career? Maybe I should have taken MLH's camera during the stuff-exchange after all
