In the uk, does deer means red deers? or red deers and roe deers together?

I am unsure about the deer but you can probably easily find out. The deer I see here all look the same. I am colour blind so would struggle to say if there is a hue of red there.

I think there is one variety of colorblindness that makes it easier to distinguishe nuances of brown in the forest.
But Red deers and Roe deer have similar colors, so color blindness shouldn't interfere, Red deers are much bigger. Males weight around 150kg, while male roe deer are closer to 20kg.
But i think the article somehow said that it was mostly red deers. 2 millions is a lot of red deers. There are about 2500 in canton Berne.

Yeah it would be the former, they are very large, more a size between a donkey and horse rather than a dog.

I can see fish that many people don’t see because they blend in the background for people with no colour blindness, in creeks or canals. this is what DW tells me.

i borrowed my neighbour's car and dammaged one front lamp.
I found a spare one in a scrapyard for 120. new was 430 and unobtainable.
cars are expensive to use.

I suppose the theory exam is about conserving wildlife, so your grandchildren can hunt too.
I like wildlife to watch. Yesterday late in midday I saw a beautiful deer here in an already thawed meadow near the Alpine village I live in winter. The birds are coming back. This year was very mild and poor of snow.
What kind of wild lives in your forest?

the six subjects are: dogs, game knowledge, laws, nature conservation and protection, weapons, hunting techniques. I think the exams are mostly a way to keep people out of that activity. Other places do it by charging more money.

Big game are boars, deers, roe deer, chamois, there are also ducks and other birds that can be hunted. Owning the forest doesnt give me any special right regarding hunting. every hunter can hunt in the whole canton.

i passed the shooting exam. Now I need to start looking for a freezer.

Do you butcher the shot animals yourself?

I'll do it with my brother, he is a butcher.

Maybe your brother has access to or can connect you to people who have unwanted freezers.

i went hiking in france again. I only go for a few day at a time, so it's quite an expensive hobby, train fares are around 50 chf each way.
I think I wont go back hiking in france unless it's for a longer stretch of time, or if i hve something else to do in the area.
On my water divide hike, i've hiked everything beetween Montchanin, in Saône et Loire, and the Grimselpass. Then i have a small gap. Then Furkapass to hinterrhein. then a gap, then Lago di Lei to Guarda in Graubunden. then a gap, then a small strech from silvretta stausee to stausee kops (my shoes disintegrated on this hike).
Then a gap, the from Wart to stixnerjoch. The a large gap, then from blumberg to Spaichingen. another gap, and then from Burladingen to some place around Dinkelsbühl.
After that, i only hiked two sections further east : Bučina to dreilandeck, on the german czech border (bayerische wald), and Sucha Hora to Popradske Pleso, in the high tatra.
I should close the gap beetween burladingen and spaichingen at the end of mai.
I'll try to close the one beetween hinterrhrein and lago di lei in june or july.
I started hiking this water divide as a student, so nearly 20 years ago. the whole hike could probably be done in a year, it goes from Gibraltar to some place around Moskow.
This is not a marked itinerary, which I don't understand, because this waterdivide is a pretty obvious theme for an itinerary, and there are trail not far from it most of the way. I offered swissrando to make the itinerary 10 years ago, but they declined.

I was just going to ask! Do you have any (even vague) write up on the 'water divide' anywhere on the Internet?

We planned cycling from the source of Rhine to its mouth in 2020 but it did not work out because of lockdown. So have an outstanding trip there. I am slowly reintroducing exploring the wider region, planning to head to Tatras later this month.

I mentioned in the past we could try to visit you in your forest in May but this will not work out because there is only a handful of days, hence going to Tatras.
