There wasn't much response in the "what's your number" thread, but I have a feeling $1 million is high for most here, and for those whose number is $1 million and above, they might even be a bit embarrassed to admit it. Just because $1 million is more ER than ERE.
Personally, I'd love a million in the bank, but my current goals are more fluid -- how long can I tolerate a full time job, what happens if I meet my soul mate who wants children, etc.
I don't think I'll hit $1 million without taking significant risks in investments. Right now I feel too conservative, but I've never been able to consistently achieve even then much-touted annual 7% (I think my lifetime returns are near zero) so I'm extremely wary of shooting for the moon.
