Hi. I'm a long time lurker here. I've been following ERE for over a year and only now am deciding to post what maybe could be useful ideas to others instead of just cherry picking everything for myself.
I'm 25 and plan on ER instead of a total ERE so 35 is my goal, 40 will be a for sure. I graduated last spring and started college as an engineer but ended in finance. I wanted to be a financial advisor and could sit for the CFP exam if I wanted but 4 years of PF books and blogs have left me sort of disillusioned. I work as an accountant now and I'm about to sit for the CPA exam.
I'm in a pretty good position to save for ERE, I moved back in with my parents last January and have averaged close to only $300 a month in expenses. I have a solid newer used car with $8k left to pay off on a 0% loan and just under $30k left in student loans. I'll only make $37k or so this year but everything is basically being pumped into paying down my student loans so I can start investing. My biggest problem really is keeping a life balance but could easily solve what's mostly causing it - when is it time to move out on my own?
